BMI-Baby drop Ibiza as a flight destination!!! - :-(

well the summer `05 flights are out today for BMI Baby East midlands & Ibiza has definitely been dropped from their summer `05 schedule, if you look at the "where we fly" section on the website you`ll also see that Ibiza is now missing altogether as a destination - although this may be a seasonal display, with the imminent release of the Manchester Schedule i rang up their sales hotline, where the friendly operator, could`nt say whether Ibiza is to be dropped as a destination from Manchester aswell, he simply said he had no information & "you`ll have to wait & see", while i cant see them scrapping Manchester aswell (it`d get a boost from the closure of the Notttingham route), especially as the route is only a year old, it does`nt look good, i`ve been doing Ibiza for yrs. & a great deal of the current continuing appeal is the fact that i`ve been able to book it sooo cheaply & conveniently, if this was`nt to be the case anymore, then i`m afraid it might be the beginning of the end of my love affair with the white isle, here`s hoping not  !!!...............

Yeah, thats very useful to us northern monkey types :? , being based in Middlesbrough in the icy, grim north, with a previous outlay of £60 for a return flight from East Midlands or Manchester, Kent would NEVER be an option i`m afraid   .........

BUT...

You can now fly to Ibiza from KENT International Airport!!! from next May anyway for £70 return flight.

www.eujet.com

There are some such cheap flights from your airport Stuie, I was looking the other day cos I fancy a little trip somewhere after the New Year and you could get to places like Amsterdam for £12 return 8O :D I'm going to wait to see what it's like for Barcelona at New Year tho cos I'm still paranoid that they're going to get us driving the plane :? 8O

All is not lost shinysy, Jet 2 have started flying from Leeds Bradford, luvverly and cheap. Shame about BMI though, I always liked East Midlands airport, for the same reason I love Leeds Bradford, quick checkins, friendly staff, few delays.

Horrible journey there from Sheffield

Why do they call it Leeds/Bradford airport, it's nowhere near either 8O

try being Scottish and having no cheap flight options other than connecting thru Stansted (and therefore risking a missed flight = missed day of hols)

I know, its all good Babs. We're going to Amsterdam next March, total cost is a bit more than £12 with taxes etc. but yes, they are bargains! I just hope the amount of flights doesnt increase too much cos as they take off i can't hear my tv!! My Dad flew to Manc from their last week and he said the flight was very good, just a little basic.

Jet2 from Leeds/Bradford is best bet for north IMO. I was looking today as it happens and return flights were about £90 in June ;)

Yeah, it is a ball-ache of a trip. Better than a jaunt to Kent though.

It's in between Leeds and Bradford, used to be called Yeadon Airport (cos that's where it is) but obviously that wouldn't register very high on the worldwide map of airports. It's actually only about 10 minutes from The World Famous Harry Ramsden's TM.

Ach no ... I really liked using BMI Baby too ...

Mike will be pleased though, as he doesn't want to go back at all .. I, on the other hand, was more than willing to be persuaded that Ibiza next year for a long weekend, would be a good idea !

So you promise me they're 'proper' planes and I'm not going to have to pedal or anything :?

I ALWAYS go for the closing parties - It`s the law, for those in the know - for the obvious reasons, the plan next yr. was to go for 9 days, flying out the day b/f the Cream closing party, JET2.COM only flies certain days of the week, one of them being Thursday, landing at 0.30 fri morning - NO GOOD for Cream @ all! - the thing that completely knackers this plan, is the fact that JET2`s flights end their season on sunday 18th Sept! -  !!!......

Guess it all hinges on the manchester announcement, if it all goes tit`s up, i guess i`m going elsewhere for my main hols., for the first time in 8yrs  .......

When I lived up north I flew from Leeds/Bradford and Manchester and you can get flights with likes of Brittania/Monarch etc pretty cheap plus more flexibility over day you travel.

I know you`ll always find a way, BUT - BMI Baby were sooo cheap, last yr. i did`nt book up till feb. & a return flight was £60! If i have to start paying a lot more than this & making more effort to get to an airport, it`ll become more of a chore & greatly diminish my enthusiasm for the whole IBZ. experience, we`ll see what happens......

Yeah, there will still be flights with other airlines from LBA, but I don't know about price.

JET2.Com - Impossible to fly on the dates i want, due to their season ending on 18/9!

Only other time would be mid August, priced that up, it`s already a £47/pp increase on last yr, that does`nt take into account the high season increases & to be honest - it ain`t really when we want to be going.....

Nah, it'll just make you appreciate the time you have there all the more!

Thanks to my mate getting married this year we chopped and changed flights and they ended up costing £175. But once you're there....who cares? Even if I did have to sell a testicle.
