Blue Marlin 2015

midnight for the outside bit, sometimes they then carry on inside for a bit (but normally it dies down on midnight)

So going about 8 or 9 to make the jaunt worthwhile? Are the crowd actually into it at the blue marlin?

I'd go earlier, like 6pm or so.
I'm no fan of BM so my comments are a bit biased...I'm especially not a fan of BM because of the crowd it gets. won't say no more.

Great news. I have a feeling he will make a stop at Enter this week as his tour schedule is vacant all week.

So all Blue Marlin days are free if you just show up without a reservation? They are quoting 2K euro for a table reservation so I am dumbfounded that they do not charge at least a small cover.

I have never been to BM before, what time do the headliners typically play? Does the place become a cluster F by nightfall?

Yes Blue Marlin is 100% free always. It fills up as the day/night goes on but i've never seen it annoyingly busy. Most people are there more to socialize, drink, etc. Small dance area. I personally have always had a great time there when i've gone with groups of friends.

Think Standard rooftop as to the % of people dancing/total dancefloor area compared to the venue, with a XIV-ish crowd.

Thanks. I will probably weather the storm for the sci-tech night. Once you are in, can you go out and hang on the beach and right back in again? I am thinking of going early to avoid the que but if Shaded and Lio havent started playing I would like to wonder down to the beach and hang.

Are flip flops permitted for men?

the beach area, so to speak, is part of the venue itself. the beach area is basically a bunch of day beds that face the ocean. It is all one in the same so no worries about walking back and forth. Once you get to the water its actually rocks. If you want a day bed one of those you'll need to reserve one on busy days though walkups can be taken care of usually. There is a minimum spend, but order some food and drinks and you usually took care of that.

There won't be a queue. I've never seen more than a maybe 200-300 people there max.

This venue is smaller than you are picturing and there is nothing else there other than the restaurant next door. It takes 2 minutes to walk through the front door to the beach.

I realize you haven't been there before and want to make sure you have your bases covered - having said that its a pretty chill venue and IMO nothing you have brought up is anything you need concern yourself with.

lastly, no dress code.

I can see why this place may be worth the trek for the likes of Carlo Lio or Steve Lawler who is there next weekend just to catch these guys in a small venue, I've never been personally so I cant speak from experience but it doesnt sound very fun

As noted before i have had great times each time i've been. But like most things in life not everyone will like it :)

Our lot are thinking of hanging out here on Monday - if there is nothing list as on, will it be quiet?

Apparently Sundays at the Blue Marlin are quite popular. I just emailed to book a large day bed for Sept 6th, and was told they are sold out. I'm pretty bummed! This venue looked amazing.

Question is, should I chance it and try to arrive early and secure a day bed? Or should I choose an alternative? I was looking at other places, Nassau or BeachHouse. What do you guys think?

sunday is their most popular day - it's the actual party day at BM. not surprised they told you it's sold out. you can always go early and try if there was a cancellation (or simply call again in a few days and see if the situation's changed), but not sure you're gonna succeed. beachouse is the same on sundays as it's rumors that day. if you wanna go to BM or beachouse on their most popular day then just chance it and live with the fact that you might end up with no bed. if you just want to go and see those venues and don't care if it's not their most popular day simply go on another day...

Yeah, I realized it was the most popular day at BM. But I figured three weeks out for a Sunday in Sept would be open. Obviously I was wrong.

Does anyone know how effective "cash-tips" can be to secure a bed? I'm used to Vegas where palms can be greased effectively. Not trying to be deuchey, but I was really looking forward to the Sunday party at BM.

get there early enough in the afternoon i'm sure some $ will secure a bed as some people of course do not show up for their reservations...
