Anyone read:

'A short history of nearly everything'

Started reading it a few days ago and its pretty interesting. He must have spent years researching it

I love Bryson! Haven't read that book you mention, but a couple of others.

or had loads of researchers do it for him

like the book though.

although all his travel books get to be a bit 'samey' after a while

would recommend "Niether Here Nor There" his first travel book very highly.

This is the first book of his I've read and it seems really good. Will give my final verdict soon

Haven't read "A Short..." but I loved his travel book "The Lost Continent: Travels in Small Town America". However, I thought "Notes from a Small Island" set in Britain was poor.
