Delayed reaction, but back on here at last! Ooft that was a weekend
Absolutely LOVED Brighton - can't wait to get back. What a friendly, lively city with so much to see and do 8) didn't even scratch the surface!
Our little cottage was just gorgeous, with a perfect sun trap garden which led to us spending a bit more time there than expected.
We arrived on Thursday around 5 and after dumping our bags and having a few beers in the garden headed to the beach for a nosey. Typical tourists so cue lots of Who singalongs
Came across a group of people practicing tight rope walking so had to join in.....even if it wasn't the best idea when our first beverage of the day had been a beer/jager with a breakfast before the 9.30am train. The group were very tolerant though and were trying to help us out, before letting us film them showing us how it was done! This night we ended up in JBs diner down the front as it seemed all very Pulp Fiction/Happy Days - mixture of great nacho's burgers and more importantly jugs of cocktail which they even put in plastic cups for us to take-away.
Friday was the main day for Fatboy slim
I had arranged for us all to get Fatboy Slim masks, so if you spotted them - that was me
freaked out a lot of people!! Got in for the last 20 mins or so of 2 Bears who were great, o.k set from Maya Jane Coles (did a lot of wandering at this point to get bearings), really enjoyed Luciano (especially the kids getting groovy on the stage!), good set from Cox (although think I prefer him in a club environment), then Fatboy to end off the night. Thought he was great, always a good party and the production was fantastic. There were a lot of complaints about queues but if you put in some effort to find toilets far away from the entrance we had no problems and were lucky to find lots of booze sellers walking around the stadium - Tuaca or some such crazy shot, ooft! Got way more for our money than we should have with those guys - thanks! Transport back into Brighton was a nightmare but my kamikaze pal managed to accost a taxi, we paid an over inflated price but were back in Brighton in good time
Did a lot of wandering around
and ended up just partying back at home.
Got some lovely tanning time Saturday morning in the garden before the cloud cover came over and had an afternoon meal at Cafe de la Mer (I think) down on the beach. Great atmosphere down there again, bands playing, friendly people. Had lovely mussels, friends had scallops and mackerel, all great. Turned a bit cold, so back to the house to get a bit better dressed! Out in the evening and that's when the heavens opened
so glad we weren't at the Amex that night! Curry buffet for those who were eating and avoided the rain by jumping into The Victory Inn, worked out well as had some people playing cool 7"'s and more chewbacca shots
A stagger down the road and we found a great beach bar, wasn't until we were in that I realised it was OHSO! LOVED this place - real Ibiza vibe, great music, up for it crowd, cool terrace out the front - we had a lot of fun in here until it closed around 2. Made me think of the Savannah Funky Room from years ago
back to the pad for our latest night yet - why does that always happen when you need to be out the next day
Rough as on Sunday morning, but packed and out for 10.30. Big breakfast at Buddies on the front (amongst all the hen/stag do's!) and just enough time for a play on the pier before rushing off for the train - did get a chance to go on any rides
By the time we reached London there was nothing else for it but to get back on it, so the train journey passed in a blink
