Anyone else going? Just got my ticket. Fatboy. Carl cox and luciano. There is also a second night on 2 june also though aimed at a younger crowd. Nero. Annie mac. Jaguar skills.

Will be interesting to see how the gig dynamic works at the amex. First of its kind i understand.

Yep, first trip to Brighton all booked :)

Really looking forward to it - Maya Jane Coles and The 2 Bears too 8)

Also a bit unsure how the venue will pan out as will be a bit weird not having grass/beach for a festival type day, but should be fun :)

This week - very excited! :D

Any good bar recommendations for Brighton? Also being from lockdown Scotland where no drinking in public is allowed is it permitted in Brighton to have a beer down the beach?

Hi Angie, yes it's perfectly fine to take your own alcohol and drink on the beach.

Re bars, on the seafront itself, Oh-So (closest to the pier) does the nicest bar food and has a nice terrace for whiling away a few hours http://www.ohsosocial.co.uk/index2.html

Further down the seafront, Fortune of War always has a good atmosphere and gets pretty good DJs playing.

Avoid West Street at all costs - think Weatherspoons, Hed Kandi bar etc :spank:

There's some nice pubs around the Lanes/away from the centre etc but if the weather is nice you're probably going to want to be on the seafront.

Let me know if you need any more info.

Thanks Barbie, helpful as always :D8)

Sounds great. We have rented a wee house close to the seafront, so hopefully the weather stays nice!

It's not off Regency Square is it, before we moved down here, we stayed in a couple of places off Regency Square for weekends away and there seemed to be quite a few holiday lets around that way.

No, further along the front out of town - just off Waterloo Street. Ivy Mews :)

Ahh very nice location - some lovely restaurants around that way on Western Road.

If you like Greek, Archipelagos is one of my fave Brighton restaurants http://www.archipelagosbrighton.co.uk/

Also Koba for food and cocktails http://kobauk.com/

Hove Place has got a lovely garden if it's sunny http://www.hoveplace.co.uk/

And Lion and Lobster has a great roof terrace again if the weather is nice http://thelionandlobster.co.uk/

Thank-you!! All look brilliant 8) Koba for cocktails when we arrive on Thursday sounds great :D not sure if the weather is going to hold for us, but fingers crossed. Can't wait!

I would agree with Barbies recommendations! ... and places to avoid! Ive heard that the number 25 bus is free on Friday to get the the Amex if you show your ticket. Runs from Western Road (near where you are staying, directly to the stadium).

I'm going on the Friday, staying in the Amsterdam Hotel Friday and Saturday night.

Might go to after party at digital with maya jane coles on the Friday, looking for things to do on the saturday, might just have a day mooching around, but be good if there was a decent club night on, been a few years since I've been out in Brighton, Honeyclub on saturdays was always good, not sure if thats any good anymore? A mate went to brighton on a saturday night recently, and he said that honeyclub was playing rnb!

Thanks :D have checked out the bus website and you're right....perfect, just at the top of the road! Says to get off and walk under the A27 - I'm sure it will all be clear when we get there. 8)

Just seen on the website its Guy Williams this saturday so it should be house.

If you're walking around Brighton in the early hours after the after-party watch out for some mad people going for early jogs, they're complete nut cases.

:lol::lol::lol:

Re Honeyclub, it used to have some decent nights on, now it seems to be a bit of a stag spot central so I'd probably proceed with caution....although may be a better than usual crowd who may head there after BBB.

A pal of mine runs a do that's got Tensnake playing at Audio which is usually pretty good. Quite young and vest-y but the music is spot on 8)

Honeyclub is a bit of a catch-all for people that don't get into the 2 meatmarket behemoths on West Street (whatever they're called these days).

Sounds good 8) just going to take it all as it comes and see where we end up :D

After Parties

Audio for Tensnake would be a good shout, also the official after party at Digital has a decent line up with Jaymo & Andy George + Maya Jane Coles again. Also Motel at Tube is open from 2.30am which is always spot on.

Decions

Delayed reaction, but back on here at last! Ooft that was a weekend

Absolutely LOVED Brighton - can't wait to get back. What a friendly, lively city with so much to see and do 8) didn't even scratch the surface!

Our little cottage was just gorgeous, with a perfect sun trap garden which led to us spending a bit more time there than expected.

We arrived on Thursday around 5 and after dumping our bags and having a few beers in the garden headed to the beach for a nosey. Typical tourists so cue lots of Who singalongs :lol: Came across a group of people practicing tight rope walking so had to join in.....even if it wasn't the best idea when our first beverage of the day had been a beer/jager with a breakfast before the 9.30am train. The group were very tolerant though and were trying to help us out, before letting us film them showing us how it was done! This night we ended up in JBs diner down the front as it seemed all very Pulp Fiction/Happy Days - mixture of great nacho's burgers and more importantly jugs of cocktail which they even put in plastic cups for us to take-away.

Friday was the main day for Fatboy slim :D I had arranged for us all to get Fatboy Slim masks, so if you spotted them - that was me ;) freaked out a lot of people!! Got in for the last 20 mins or so of 2 Bears who were great, o.k set from Maya Jane Coles (did a lot of wandering at this point to get bearings), really enjoyed Luciano (especially the kids getting groovy on the stage!), good set from Cox (although think I prefer him in a club environment), then Fatboy to end off the night. Thought he was great, always a good party and the production was fantastic. There were a lot of complaints about queues but if you put in some effort to find toilets far away from the entrance we had no problems and were lucky to find lots of booze sellers walking around the stadium - Tuaca or some such crazy shot, ooft! Got way more for our money than we should have with those guys - thanks! Transport back into Brighton was a nightmare but my kamikaze pal managed to accost a taxi, we paid an over inflated price but were back in Brighton in good time :p Did a lot of wandering around :D and ended up just partying back at home.

Got some lovely tanning time Saturday morning in the garden before the cloud cover came over and had an afternoon meal at Cafe de la Mer (I think) down on the beach. Great atmosphere down there again, bands playing, friendly people. Had lovely mussels, friends had scallops and mackerel, all great. Turned a bit cold, so back to the house to get a bit better dressed! Out in the evening and that's when the heavens opened :spank: so glad we weren't at the Amex that night! Curry buffet for those who were eating and avoided the rain by jumping into The Victory Inn, worked out well as had some people playing cool 7"'s and more chewbacca shots  A stagger down the road and we found a great beach bar, wasn't until we were in that I realised it was OHSO! LOVED this place - real Ibiza vibe, great music, up for it crowd, cool terrace out the front - we had a lot of fun in here until it closed around 2. Made me think of the Savannah Funky Room from years ago :D back to the pad for our latest night yet - why does that always happen when you need to be out the next day :?:

Rough as on Sunday morning, but packed and out for 10.30. Big breakfast at Buddies on the front (amongst all the hen/stag do's!) and just enough time for a play on the pier before rushing off for the train - did get a chance to go on any rides :(

By the time we reached London there was nothing else for it but to get back on it, so the train journey passed in a blink

Oh! tried to get the number 25 to the event on Friday but it never appeared so hopped a taxi - they seem very expensive in Brighton?
