Hi all,
Gonna go to the sunset strip tonight to watch my first sunset for a good few years, which bars would you recommend? I will have already eaten so old doesnt matter, and dont really want a minimum spend table like i have heard mambo do?

Im thinkin cafe del mar,

Also what time would be best to get there for a good table?

Cheers in advance

Golden Buddha and Kanya are both nice. Slightly further round the bay (by about 5 mins) - both alot cheaper

Golden Buddha or Kumharas. I'm not a big fan of Kanya since they re-did it tbh and would definitely steer clear of Cafe del Mar, Savannah, Mambo, Mint etc.

I miss old Kanya. It was a dump and I got a nasty infection from the pool but I loved it.

Buddha for me in San An and I did like Kumharas a lot when I was a hostage there if you don't mind going around the bay

I used to love the old Kanya the new one is rubbish. Buddha is good and i suppose everyone has to do Cafe del Mar at least once but all the bars on that stretch sort of blend in to one now tbh. It was much better when it was just rocks and thousands of people all sat together without that sodding terracing.

^^this..I have a mate coming with us in oct and he aint been since early 90`s..He was the only one that took photos back and has some great ones of cafe del mar.. Wonder what he`ll think of it now..8O

Get scanning then and upload the pics 8)

Hostal La Torre is my favourite. I would also give Kumharas a mention for that alternative, hippy, atmosphere. Much more in tune with the non commercial scene with a nice easy and laid back crowd. Less in your face and pretentious. The views arent as good but makes up for it elsewhere.

bez and nostrum finally agree on something shocker! ;)

Will have to write that one up!!:)

Lovely place but the music is a bit.....:?

It is a bit hit and miss because the owner does it himself while greeting guests and serving behind the bar. In my many visits to the place I have never seen anybody else DJ there. That said, its not for the music I go there for......

Jose Padilla was to play there last season but it didnt work out......just as well in my opinion.

yeah he run back up to sort the music and back to the tables..He did play happy birthday for me when i was last there in may and a free bottle of cava and a cake..:D
