Best Concert Ever????

James Brown back in the 80's

Prince about 12 years ago

Moby 3 years ago in Newcastle

Leftfield 5 years ago in Newcastle

.... these ones spring to mind anyway......

Gigs - defining moment of my youth - Happy Mondays, James, Inspiral Carpets, 808 State (and Beats International but not so defining) at Wembley Arena 1991.

U2 x2 at the Sydney Football Stadium in 1993 and 1996 - they are the best stadium band ever!

Equinox festival @ Macquarie uni in Sydney - Tool, Midnight Oil, SUperjesus, Mark of Cain, Blink 182 etc etc 1995

Chemical Brothers @ Hodern Pavillion, Sydney 1999 (?)

Massive Attack @ Brixton Academy 2004

Hmmm I need to go see more bands methinks!

Oooh I love James Brown! I saw him when I was in Oz - still does loads of hip hop moves and sweats buckets at 70.

I swear he still hasn't lost it!

Can I add Glasto 2000 to my list - it was my fave Glasto ever - the last year before they stepped up security, denied access to travellers    and started selling tickets in pairs (hense the student couples you apparently get nowadays  ).

Iggy Pop, Town and Country Club 1989. He played two nights in December and they're still the best gigs I've ever been to.
The second night we were down the front by the speakers at the side of the stage and when he jumped into the crowd during The Passenger, I found myself holding him while he sang the chorus, jabbing the mike at me to sing along the lah-lah-lahs, so I could hear my voice coming out of the stack next to me right ear. What a show. Tunes like Raw Power and I Just Wanna Be Your Dog show up most modern guitar bands for the hopeless wannabes they are.

I'm still kicking myself for not going to see him and the Stooges when they performed Funhouse in its entirety recently.

Queen at Wembley Stadium 1986. I was 13 and it was the first concert I'd ever been to. It was as good as you can imagine.

Bowie at Wembley (Glass Spider Tour) and the Stones in 1990 - the day after the end of A-levels - were also top dollar shows.

Yeah and not the one of the famous (but unknown in Germany) heart-throb you've been emailing to the female members of the Deutches forum!

Nope, don't recognise you either. Our respective memories might be fading a bit tho.

I stayed to the bitter end, tho the closing party let everybody down when the sound system failed and we had to go to Bora Bora instead.

Homolands?

:p

Is that a Freudian slip? Might this have something to do with the end of your "honeymoon"?

Did someone attempt to consumate your relationship roughly?

Nice selection.

Was pretty impressed by Depeche Mode's performance the other week at MEN Arena.

Not sure what my favourite favourite is, but The Rapture at the Sub Club just before Echoes came out were immense and the first time I saw my favourite band, The Fall, at the Queen's Hall in Edinburgh were both very special.

Actually, all in, the best all round one would probably be seeing Kraftwerk in Glasgow two years ago. Wow.
