Benidorm

Is it really still how I imagined it 'would be'?

i.e. the original package holiday family estination?!

It seems odd that the only other area the 'spotlight' empire has conquered?!

Shall we expect, say, Costa Brava spotlight anytime soon?!

To be honest, and without the intention of being offensive, benidorm is how I imagine hell

In my opinion next to be conquired should be Costa Dorada, let costa Brava for us the locals, please

We'll swap you for Blackpool

benidorm is worse than blackpool because the fact it is not in england means the people there go to extreme lengths to make it even more english/british than it already is. i.e. going over the top with GB monarch themed pubs and traditional english tucker (kebabs, curry, chinese, etc:lol: ).

in some ways the people who go are worse than blackpool too as they have made the effort to travel all that way to go there............benidorm really really worries me...............freaks me out in fact.

whoever mentioned hell in the same breath as benidorm was doing an injustice to hell.

oh ye of little faith!!

benidorm has really pulled its socks up - it is one of the top family destinations in the med and a darn sight cheaper than ibiza too.

everyone is entitled to an opinion, but we will not tolerate bad-mouthing of benidorm holiday makers. each to their own - please have a bit of respect.

I do, I spent a week there last summer and we only went to the beach two days 8O

But still, Costa Brava with all those russians, germans and frenchs is desertic compared to Benidorm and all that area ;)

I have been going to Calella de Palafrugell, Le Franc and Begur since I was 4...

I love calella - great holidays there as a kid - I love Tony's restaurant! :D

Some of the best places on the planet 8) I went to a bar last year that was owned or managed by Coco from Fame :D Can't remember what it was called though...

benson, when you say Calella I guess you mean Calella de Palafrugell, don't you?
I love it over there, my friend has a house there and we usually have a girlies weekend in winter in Calella. Fantastic off season.

Have you ever had a Paella at Hostal Sa Tuna, facing the beach? One of the best paella you can have around Alt Empordà ;)

you'll be very surprised by our next destination!

i must admit to being impressed with benidorm, once over the initial shock of its skyline! yes it does have a brits abroad reputation, it does have an old people on holiday reputation, and it's THE most popular destination for spanish people in all spain.

it now has 5 star hotels springing up all round, it has golf courses, theme parks, a fantastic programme of concerts and live entertainment, and of course streets packed with authentic spanish bars and all around are some lovely towns (vila joyosa is one of my faves) and spectacular sights.

it's no wonder the 18-30's abandoned it 2 years ago!
