None seen - or felt - last week and I always look out for the little b#ggers after being stung previously, but no doubt there will be plenty in July and August!

Great can't wait for our August hols then!! I was stung last year at a beach in between Es Cana and Sta Eulalia where they have watersports. There were loads of them, not much fun, I was so busy looking where my children were stepping and then one got me!

Buy a cheap fishing net and chuck them on the beach - hours of fun and doing something useful as well - the kids love pointing them out!

It doesn't sound very respectfull with the environement to me, if you don't mind

They're jellyfish! :? Environmental or not, the little buggers sting. I'd have no qualms using them for a game of "toss the mushy creature on the sand to bake"

And what if they are jellyfishes and they sting? The sea is THEIR natural habitat not ours. Go inside the sea to hunt them and take them out of their habitat with endless fun for the kids (very edutative) sounds wrong to me

I could understand if they were grey whales, Siberian tigers, rhinos, pandas, etc., Sil, but jellyfish? My love of the environment just doesn't stretch that far

I don't see the difference with a siberian tiger and a jellyfish. Actually, if they are f*** our beach time with their massive presence in the med is because of the global warming which I think it's men fault ;)

Saw loads in Ibiza/Formentera last summer, possibly the most yet. I actually got surrounded by them in Formentera which was slightly disturbing! Never been stung by one though...yet.

Irina got stung at Cala d' Hort last year, and a couple of our friends were stung on a yacht trip I took (at Atlantis and at another spot on the West coast where there's an underground cave).

We learned that the pee cure really does work

(Sil - the difference is that jellyfish aren't engandered and are a nuisance! They're expendable! )

Moral of story, if at beach, dont go toilet unless your away to pee yourself. You never know when your urine will be needed. ;)

They are a nuisance for you not for the ecosystem. The ecosystem doesn't turns around the human being :?

I am quite shock with the engandered bit, do you mean that any animal which is not engandered can be mistreat and killed?

No, I just mean that a nuisance invertebrate with a potentially deadly sting, when venturing into areas where it's existence conflicts with that of people in dangerous fashion, is fair game!

That goes for snakes too (the fair game part, not the invertebrate part ). And bees, if they get too close to me. Oh, and gnats and flies.

I can't belive you are saying that Morbyd :?

As I said before, the conflict comes for the men getting into their habitat, not for them being in the sea. :?
But as it looks like you think that everything turns around men, there's no point insisting in it.

That could be problematic Sil, so just because I like you, here's a quick lesson.

If you're attacked by this:

getting Pep to wee on you won´t help.

If this little bugger gets you:

it might.

Clear? Feel free to print my post and bring into the beach/jungle for recognition purposes;)
