A further law which was approved last week will now mean that music bars (cafe conciertos) will not be permitted to play music which is audible from the outside of the premises between 12.00 midnight and 4.00 o'clock in the afternoon. Depending on the severity of the infraction and the category of the business, fines of between 1,000€ and 10,000€ will be applicable.

Surely with fines at that level places like Ushuia would have no problem stying open later and accepting a fine on special occasions?

according to today's diario de ibiza (paper edition only), no more discoteca, cafe-concierto or beach club licenses will be granted in santa eulalia during the next year due to the social alarm among the neighbours of some residencial areas because of the possible opening of new establishments :!:

the article includes a picture of the police sealing plan be at the beginning of last summer...

on the island, including the main clubs, yesterday agreed to organize a "lockout" this summer
to protest the changes that time municipalities are passing like Sant Josep,
"but above all, for the continuation and permanence insulting illegal activities

I would love to be there if this happens ....It will bring out the best of the island. free partys will pop up all over..

Actually, it's quite a good thing - if bars are closing at 5am then on nights I'm not set on clubbing may as well not bother going out and get a decent night's sleep instead - but preferably somewhere far from San An or PDB as they'll be dreadful if what's left of them peters out by 3-4am. Actually maybe just skip the clubs and bars altogether. Yes, that's a better plan actually. No getting twatted on cheap drinks, no astronomic drinks bills either and no going home and needing a week to recover. Actually no spending much at all in Ibiza as the local Spar sells almost all you need and the local restaurants are good and as cheap as back home. Yes - that's the better way to do it on the Party Isle that doesn't really party any more. 20 Euros spending money a day should do it - after all, the sun and the sea are free.

Meanwhile in Ibiza the lady Mayor, Marienna Sánchez Jáuregui, announced that her party would soon be passing similar legislation ensuring cafe conciertos will have to close an hour earlier, at 5.30 am instead of the current 6.30 am – half an hour later than in other boroughs.
