There's some nice areas round Victora Park Kitty, there is some dodgy areas but some of it's nice. The best thing to do is go on Monday and get a look and feel for the place and see if you'll feel safe there etc ;)

you think id be silly moving there for first time in london?

It really depends what you're after - do you want to be close to work, close to tube station, close to bars/shops, in a residential area, with garden etc etc etc. There's so many things to weigh up and you know what things are most important to you.

The other thing to remember is that in London areas change from good to bad in a matter of metres, one side of the road could be million pound flats and then on the other side a really rough estate so altho I know some areas round Victoria Park are nice others aren't so nice.

You'll know when you go to places whether you could see yourself living there. Also Scoobie is back from hols on Monday I think and she knows Hackney well so she'll be able to give you more advice ;)

ahhh cool....

i wouldnt normally consider hackney...its just the place sounds fab, plus living with 2 dj's...and can use stratford tube straight to canary wharf...

i would prefere shoreditch/old st/camden area tho to be closer to friends but nothing nice seems to pop up there....hoooo hummm...xx

Hi Kitty. i've been away and only just seen this. ;)

I live on the other side of Victoria Park. I don't know that side very well, but you'd have a bit of a walk/bus ride to the tube from there.
