Banks

Are they all as bad as each other? I'm with Lloyds TSB at the moment and they can't seem to get anything right!!

Thinking HSBC might be better, any comments or recommendations?

I've just switched to Nationwide. Free cash withdrawals in any country, which will be helpful for travelling! Lloyds TSB are a joke, they do nothing for their customers. You get nothing for having them as your bank or your credit card provider, whereas other banks reward their customers.

I'm with Lloyds, my husband is with HSBC and they are both ****.
The worse bit about HSBC is that the call centre is in India and it gets very frustrating with the language barrier.

when I'm back I will prob join First Direct, my boss uses them and says that there is always someone to speak to, hardly any problems. Always keeping you uptodate etc

Lloyds are a joke, I tried leaving but failed a few months ago so have decided to stay until I'm back.

If I used an airmiles credit card instead of lloyds I'd probbaly have enough free milles to travel the world, yet I have nothing:x

............and not forgetting you get the current days business exchange rate and not the tourist rate when drawing out Euros abroad. Whey hey, more money for your money! :p

Used my Flex Card in Mallorca, Mainland Spain, Ibiza and in a couple of weeks I'll be using it in Poland

Nationwide are the most flexible for European travel.

Cooperative Bank are by far the best if you want to avoid giving money to war arms and the Nestles of this world. 8)
I've never had any problems with them except that money takes a little longer to transfer. They're always happy to reverse bank charges etc if you have a good reason.

can anyone advise the best credit card for me?

I want to collect airmiles and always pay my monthly balance off. Not interest in this 6 month free, just a credit card that provides arimiles for each month.

When I looked into there are thousands.

I'd also like one which would not charge me for using my credit card in bankok or india.

any advise?

Need to order it soon

I have a Tesco Personal Finance credit card, you get airmiles with that - and if you don't want the airmiles you can swap for other stuff like hotels, Eurostar, restaurant, AA membership, lots of things.

I'm with Alliance and Leicester and they are poo! If it wasn't for the fact its so much trouble i'd switch! Actually saying that I am starting a new job so it wouldn't be as much hassle............

I am with First Direct they are brilliant - been with them 13 years and NEVER had a problem and great call centre in the UK which is brilliant....

If you join with them they give you money for opening an account and if you use my name they give me money too!!!

IF (intelligent finance) are the mutts nuts, very helpful, always someone at the end of the phone if you need to (altho they pride themselves on Internet only banking) the online is a doddle to use plus they do good offset mortgage deals if you need one.

If your doing alot of travelling and take cash out while your there then nationwide are by far the best, best exhange rates any bank will give you and they don't charge you for the privilage of taking your own money out!!!!!!

Morgan Stanley do the best credit card for cashback (1.5% on all purchases!) and Tesco's the best for points/promotions etc.

I switched from Lloyds to Natwest earlier in the year and i have had no trouble with them so far.

I have the same problem with the switch/maestro card though :spank:

been with first direct for years now. highly recommended. helpful uk based call centres too.

tell them not to send you any marketing by post though, otherwise you will end up with a letterbox as stuffed as drew's (fnar, fnar)

mrs russ is with smile who are also very very good (and highly ethical too, it being part of the co-op)
