a last minute release of tickets meant that yesterday, rather than an evening slumped on the sofa watching the tv, i went down to the O2 arena and saw the devine Barbra Streisand.

Truly a once in a lifetime experience. She was everything you could wish for. To be in the same room as that astonishing voice was something I will treasure and remember forever.

highlights included Memories, Evergreen,, Starting Here Starting Now, People, Somewhere, Papa and Don't Rain on my Parade.

yes, i did blub and no, i am straight.

Never been much of a Streisand fan, but can understand where you're coming from.

Tony Bennet or Shirley Bassey would do it for me.

I don't think I've ever listened to any streisand 8O

You MUST know some of her songs!

Memorieeees all alone in the sunn ligggght la la la la la laaaa

Check her out on youtube 8)

My Dad has always wanted to see her, but because the money grabbing ho only does tickets for over £100 that hasn't been possible! Grr

not ringing any bells on youtube... :?

my parents didn't listen to that much music when I was a kid (which is probably why I ended up getting into techno ) so I missed out on a lot of this stuff...

what I'm listening to now is all lovely mind 8)

And we've got video evidence!

(Would love to see her though, completely agree on the "would recognise tracks when you heard them" thing!)

Though I read that she missed out a load of them (the classics) in a review of her show (that still gave it 5* though)) )

Firstly, isn't it moonlight?

More importantly, that song is from the musical Cats!

(edit: which is not to say that Babs didn't do a version, which she did, but just that you might have heard it elsewhere...)

its not memory from cats, its memories (the way we were)

memories, light the corners of my mind
misty watercolour memories
of the way we were.

etc

the tickets were (only!) £100. and were a gift from my sister. they were unsold returns with face value of £500

btw, she didn't do most of her 'pop hits' like woman in love etc. it's more of a show tune thing (she did do 'you don't bring me flowers' though.

btw, if one was constructing a Venn diagram of last night's audience, the primary 3 sections should be Gay Men, Jews and over 60s.

I wouldn't pay 100 cents never mind 100 pounds sterling to see that drivel, i hear tickets cost up to and above €500 for her recent concert here, people need to have their head examined really8O
