Just to redress the balance 
Children are the greatest event in the universe ever
It sure curtails ones social life, friends seem to think you have died and no longer exist once you have a wee child!
But I cannot recommend parenthood highly enough for all you budding mothers / fathers on here
I reckon you will be wanting to do the babysitting thing regularly once you have got over the nervous bit, enjoy
