URBAN IN IBIZA 5: ‘SONS OF WARHOL'

UNDER A STAR STENCILLED BANNER

CELEBRATING IT'S 5[SUP]TH[/SUP] YEAR AS IBIZA'S URBAN ART FORERUNNER
AT
ATZARó 1 AUG AND OCEAN BEACH CLUB 23 AUG

AMERICAN ARTISTS CONFIRMED AS SHEPARD FAIREY, JOHN TRACY, BAM MARGERA & CHAD MUSKA

(FIX/ IBIZA/17 JULY 2013) :As Ibiza summer events go, it's safe to say that ever since it first exploded onto the calendar in 2009, URBAN IN IBIZA is definitely up there on the Best of the Best List. This year, and what with the team behind the art-music-fashion extravaganza getting ready to celebrate their 5[SUP]th[/SUP] birthday already (baby's growin' up…), this latest edition is set for starry, starry heights with not only a number of dates and venues confirmed but also, a wealth of both exclusive art & international artists all confirmed to take part in this Urban in Ibiza's fifth celebration of their love of urban art, music and fashion.

The principal dates already set in stone for this edition are 1 Aug at Agroturismo Atzaró, 23August at Ocean Beach Club and 31July when Urban in Ibiza pops up for a live paint at Ibiza Rocks Hotel. Add to that the 30 July being set aside for the Mini Markers- a kids street art workshop at Atzaro plus the fact that the Urban in Ibiza exhibition itself runs at Atzaró Gallery until 8August before being shipped off to San Antonio's Ocean Beach Club, and it's a veritable month long urbantastic explosion.

The mahoosive news for the urbanistas this time round is the fact that event owner and director Paul Dizzi Saunders has confirmed the acquisition of a number of exclusive works at the events by a number of high profile American artists including the internationally recognisedShepard Fairey, man behind Obey Giant.

Fairey's name is a familiar one to any aficionado of contemporary urban/street art, his reputation having catapulted to a stellar level in 2008 when his ‘Hope' portrait of Barack Obama became the iconic image of the presidential campaign and helped inspire an unprecedented political movement. The original image now hangs in the Smithsonian Institution's National Portrait Gallery in Washington D.C. At this year's Urban in Ibiza, Shepard Fairey unveils some original 2013 work, and this, make no mistake about it, is ‘a HUGE deal' by any standards.

Representing Skate and Street, the work of Jackass' Bam Margera and world renowned skater Chad Muska both form part of the SK8 Art St exhibition within an exhibition at Urban in Ibiza this year with fellow artist and curator John Tracy the obvious choice for a personal appearance at the event. 'SK8 ART ST' is a skateboarding / street art concept which takes a long look at skate culture and the transformation of skate related objects and paraphernalia into functional and fine artworks.

Aside from the U.S contingent, expect a long list of art and artists including several old faithfuls and a number of young newbies. To date, this year's Urban in Ibiza will feature the works (and many of them exclusively) of Banksy, David Walker, Mau Mau, Fin Dac, Inkie, Snik, Schoony, Ben Allen, Dan Kitchener aka DANK, Jim Vision, Ben Slow, Henry Hate, Pure Evil, Rowan Newton, My Dog Sighs, Kristian Hornsleth, K Guy, Goldie, Nick Walker, Ryan Callanan aka RYCA, Milo, Copyright, Gemma Compton, Jim Starr, Elmo Hood, Lauren Baker, Chapter, Zeus, Nicolas Dixon, Sequin Kay, Adam Bricusse and if we know Dizzi Saunders, probably a few more squeezed in along the way…

Between them all, a celebration of street art, of skate, of urban culture and lifestyle. And that's not to mention the fashion, the music and the kids' workshop.

As per every year, Urban In Ibiza's organisers are planning to wow with a catwalk show par excellence, this year led by Belgian designer and winner of the ‘Premium Young Designer Award 2013' at Berlin Fashion Week, urban fashion designer Tom Van der Borght. Showcasing his award-winning AW 13/14 collection 'Aponycalypse', Tom's wild creations are the missing pieces of the Urban In Ibiza puzzle for 2013, we kid you not. Get ready for a catwalk show that simply screams Urban.

Warming up the catwalk and the crowd, Urban in Ibiza are also delighted to bring White Ibiza on board. After the successful launch of a new online Ibiza fashion boutique earlier this year, the fashion and style experts from White Ibiza are teaming up with Urban in Ibiza to bring their online brands onto the catwalk!

Smelling salts at the ready, it's White Ibiza's selection of this summer's hottest swimwear styles, from hot US label L*Space and Brazilian brand ViX Swimwear among others that will have the crowd's attention. Think fabulous fringing, wild patterns, mismatched prints, tribal embellishments and edgy hardware - these bikinis are anything but tame, echoing Ibiza's eclectic yet chic style stakes. Attention grabbing stiff, just the way the Urbanistas like it...

Musically, it's never a dull affair at Urban in Ibiza and this 5[SUP]th[/SUP] Anniversary promises to prove just that. Fans of past editions will know the name of Benji Boko rather well, and the English DJ/Producer is back again to get the party well and truly started with his kooky remixes and energetic hip hop mash up sessions. He's joined by MC Carpetface and DJs Samir, Yuniq, GianLuca de Tiberiis and Tony Montana plus special performances TBC. Extra good news on the music front, with Atzaró's extended licencing hours meaning that we can make sweet urban music until 4a.m for the first time in Urban's history at the gorgeous rural hotel hideaway.

As per every edition, Urban in Ibiza loves getting the kids involved. Lined up for their junior art experience this time around, Urban in Ibiza presents Mini Markers, a Street Art workshop with two of Europe's top Graffiti artists Tom ‘Inkie' Bingle and Jim Vision. The workshop is devised for 6-14 year olds and takes place on 30[SUP]t [/SUP]July from 12- 2.30pm again at Atzaró. With a set price per child of 25€, leave your budding Sons of Warhol to get their creative flow on, whilst you parents relax and enjoy lunch at Sant Joan's jewel in the crown, Agroturismo Atzaró. And with Junior's masterpiece coming home with him/her, best make a space on the mantelpiece. Booking is essential and can be done by mailing:

So. To sum up. Art- Fashion- Music. Put it all together and what have you got except one great big, brilliant celebration of Urban Lifestyle.

URBAN IN IBIZA: ‘SONS OF WARHOL' HAVE LANDED

Mini Markers switch this year's edition of Urban in Ibiza ON!
Inkie & Fin Dac get ready for tomorrow's live paint at Ibiza Rocks
Thursday's signature event at Atzaróset to be bigger than ever

(FIX/ IBIZA/30 JULY 2013) : As the fifth edition of Urban in Ibiza swung into action this morning at Atzarówith the return of the Mini Markers Kids Workshop, it's full steam ahead for organiser and art curator Paul Dizzi Saunders who, along with his loyal team, is up to his eyeballs preparing the last details for both tomorrow's live paint at Ibiza Rocks Hotel and Thursday's annual signature showstopper at Atzaró Rural Hotel. And that's just this week…There's also the mammoth Ocean Beach Club event to think about on 23August.

For those who love their urban art, music and fashion, this year's event really is an unmissable exhibition of all three, a gathering of some of the scene's most talented street artists, musicians and designers. And in this the fifth edition of the urbanfest, organisers are raising the bar even higher, bringing in the American contingent and the exclusive works of Shephard Fairey (Obey Giant), Chad Muska, Bam Margera and on site to present it, photographer and curator, John Tracy. His show, 'SK8 ART ST' is a skateboarding / street art concept which takes a long look at skate culture and the transformation of skate related objects and paraphernalia into functional and fine artworks.

Aside from the Americanos, expect a long list of art and artists including several old faithfuls and a number of young newbie's, quite a few of whom are touching down on the island as we speak for the annual gathering. To date, this year's Urban in Ibiza will feature the works (and many of them exclusively) via London's Westbank Gallery of Banksy, David Walker, Mau Mau, Fin Dac, Inkie, Snik, Schoony, Ben Allen, Dan Kitchener aka DANK, Jim Vision, Ben Slow, Henry Hate, Pure Evil, Rowan Newton, My Dog Sighs, Kristian Hornsleth, K Guy, Goldie, Nick Walker, Ryan Callanan aka RYCA, Milo, Copyright, Gemma Compton, Jim Starr, Elmo Hood, Lauren Baker, Chapter, Zeus, Nicolas Dixon, Sequin Kay, Adam Bricusse .

As per every edition, Urban in Ibiza loves getting the kids involved. Starting them young, today's ‘MINI MARKERS' Workshop, held in the shady groves of Atzaróhad UK artists Inkie and Chapter get involved showing the juniors how it's done, with almost 30 children getting stuck in to a group paint as well as producing their own individual canvases/masterpieces for the mantelpiece.

In a new addition to this year's Urban in Ibiza, world famous tattoo artist, Neil Ahern, a man who has both tattooed and been tattooed by Kate Moss, not to mention his dog, Scratch (true story, his dog did tattoo him), is bringing the art of tattoo to Urban. And not before time. Bringing Inkadelic to Atzaró, the human skin is his canvas and Ahern's faultless work brings another splash of colour and talent to this edition of Urban in Ibiza.

On the catwalk and it just got very exciting with Belgian designer and winner of the ‘Premium Young Designer Award 2013' at Berlin Fashion Week, urban fashion designer Tom Van der Borght showcasing his AW 13/14 collection 'Aponycalypse'. Tom's wild creations are the missing pieces of the Urban In Ibiza puzzle for 2013, we kid you not. Bursting with colour, creation and originality, so good we might want to hang his unique creations in the Urban in Ibiza gallery!

White Ibiza are also on board as far as the fabric is concerned. Bringing sexy cool to the catwalk, get ready for this summer's hottest swimwear styles, echoing Ibiza's eclectic yet chic style stakes…
Music, we got it sorted. Fresh off the plane, Benji Boko is back at Urban, and the English DJ/Producer is back again to get our bootays shakin' all over with his kooky remixes and energetic hip hop mash up music. He's joined by MC Carpetface and DJs Samir, Yuniq, GianLuca de Tiberiis and Tony Montana. Extra good news on the music front, with Atzaró's extended licencing hours meaning that we can make sweet urban music until 4a.m for the first time in Urban's history at the gorgeous rural hotel hideaway.

Before Thursday's madness ensues, however, it's another first for the crew when Urban in Ibiza makes a little stop off tomorrow evening at the Ibiza Rocks hotel in San Antonio, where artists Fin DAC and Inkie will undertake a live paint to the tune of this week's Ibiza Rocks headliners, Chase & Status.
That's definitely ‘more than a lot' to be getting on with…

So. To sum up. Art- Fashion- Music; a brilliant celebration of Urban Lifestyle on the island of Ibiza.

BO WOODY WINTER PRESENTS DJ ICONS IN IBIZA
…art meets music meets dance history…
Friday October 11, 4pm-4am, at Agroturismo Atzaró
DJs include Dutch legend Dimitri, Joan Ribas + Sarah Main
(Press Release/FIX IBIZA/11 SEPT 2013)

Dutch artist Bo Woody Winter is no stranger to Ibiza, the semi-resident most recently having presented his Jazz Legends exhibition at Ibiza Rocks House at Pikes Hotel in early August 2013. His series of jazz paintings, including the 10 x 2 m painting saw the closing of an exhibition tour that started back in 2011 at the North Sea Jazz Festival. But now, Winter is focusing on the presentation of a new series of paintings that have already been two years in the making: - DJ ICONS is the name and superstar DJs is the game. The multi-media event, confirmed for Friday October 11 at Agroturismo Atzaró, Ibiza, sees the start of Bo Woody Winter’s latest art/music fusion tour and its presentation across Europe, the USA and Asia.

Although he is already known in the jazz/art circles as a self-proclaimed Jazz Junkie, Winter has another musical side to his history, with a deeply rooted background in Holland’s rave scene since ‘back in the day’, a fact that becomes crystal clear on the viewing of his latest collection of 25 paintings of some of the biggest and most influential names in the history of dance music.

In keeping with his signature style of ‘synesthesia’, all of the pieces in Winter’s latest series have been created through the mediums of both art and music. For Bo, the two are simply inseparable; his paintings seem to absorb the very essence of the music he listens to whilst working. The results speak for themselves, plain to see at the Atzaró exhibition on Oct 11.

So far, so good. Meanwhile, back in Holland, Bo is cracking on with the final few portraits for inclusion in the exhibition. To date, Winter has completed 21 of the 25 portraits to be featured in the exhibition- in no particular order, Sven Väth, Luciano, Carl Cox, Frankie Knuckles, Derrick May, Marshall Jefferson, Alfredo Fiorito, Pete Tong, Dimitri, Laurent Garnier, Kevin Saunders, Armin van Buuren, Tiësto, David Guetta, Bob Sinclar, Carl Craig, Eric Morillo, Steve Aoki, Avicii, Sarah Main and Eli Rojas with just a few more names to be announced in the next days.

544884_10201948946911384_1805957109_n.jpg

Whilst the launch event of the DJ Icons Tour at Atzaró has the art as it’s main focus, it also promises a refined dining experience, a spectacular music and light show, an 'Art Catwalk Show', the WannaHave Fair, the World premiere of 3D Synesthesia FX, a live paint by the star of the show, Bo Woody Winter, plus a DJ line up that includes one of Holland’s finest and instigator of the Dutch Dance Scene- DJ DIMITRI, hero to many an experienced clubber.Dimitri first made an appearance at Amsterdam’s famous house temple ‘Roxy’ ion 1988, bringing his sound and style to Ibiza in 1991 and going on to become a leading international house DJ.

Joining him in providing the soundtrack to DJ Icons, island favourite, Joan Ribas is confirmed as well as Dutch DJ Pat (master of jazz and dance lounge), Eli Rojas (Blue Marlin), Sarah Main (Pacha/Ushuaia) and Stray Kitten (Ibiza Rocks House/Pikes Hotel) with more very special guest DJs announced in the next days.

Bo Woody Winter says of the event: “Back in the 90s, I was involved in the early house parties as organizer and decorator but in more recent years, my focus has been my paintings. Last year, I started painting portraits of DJs that I feel have really turned the dance scene into what it is today. This series of 25 top DJs had to be presented in a special setting and for that reason we had to choose the island of dance: Ibiza. We want to create an event with an old school house party atmosphere, allowing guests to feel they’re amongst friends, like the old days so we chose the wonderful Atzaró for this presentation of art meets old school in optima forma.”

Entrance to this event is limited to 900 people. Special VIP arrangements can be booked through Close Up Art (www.close-up-art.com) and Buitenlandsche Zaken (www.buitenlandschezaken.nl)

On the night of the event, Mari Mayans Hierbas de Ibiza will present a special DJ Icons drink and local vineyard, Ibizkus will serve their finest wines. Centre-Lights Neon will also present their commercial art neon projects.
