Art of Dark @ SIROCCO 2013

any chance of a bit more detail on this? not liking the sound of this, was looking forward to these AoD parties

Well ... a certain diva with a party @ Sirocco who shall remain nameless has been determined to get this party cancelled for weeks and had threatened to pull from the venue if it wasn't. They managed to prevail through June but we can only surmise that when it proved to be a great one and a Cocoon artist showed it got too much for the girlies and hissy fits seem to have finally won. Some people seem to be terrified of being outshone.

Desol ... ée . Hopefully they'll find another venue but if they can't be a*sed with the political sh*t in PDB and a load of prima donnas trying to squash everyone and anyone but their cronies I personally wouldn't blame them.

I thought you were hinting towards tINI in the 1st post.....very surprised by that tbh. Dont see how it really affects her. Her party is going strong every Wednesday, this ones 3 days later. Poor show if true

It's all got very silly down in pdb. The AoD boys are super nice so it's disappointing they have been dealt underhand tactics .. Which are all true btw...

They should hopefully be back @ a new venue in 2-3 weeks for August.

It's silly in a way that you're basically squashed if you're empty and squashed if you're popular. The music scene will eat itself up with all that dirty business and ultimately punters are the losers. Purportedly underground music scene is no place for 'Gang warfare' ;)

BOLLOCKS!!!!! Thats my 1st saturday shafted then, was looking forward to this aswell!! Anything else along those lines going on???

Looks like they've decided to pull out completely this year as can't get a venue that's a decent match in right location with the right sound system. It must be August or something !

Are the guys gona stay on the island or call it quits n head back to London?

Dan came back today. No point being there unless venues they want can be sorted and unfortunately they weren't happy with the sound levels in the places looked at (LIPS etc.). They've all had their fill of it for this year unless the right venue is allowed by those 'throwing their weight around' to host. I think Jack's already back here. The way they see it, contacts been made, a few decent parties held and a great deal learned so all in all they've done their best and an overall net +ve. Bar one party back end of last year it was in at the deep end with a full commitment but in the end the goal was just to put some good parties on and not get involved in World War 3 - so all in all best thing to do is pull out as it's already August now. Most likely be a few more London events this Summer. They'll know what to expect next year !

Tried to go on July 13th, got there around 9pm and the whole venue was closed. Asked the people at Sirocco about it and they said the promoter pulled out....

er ... no ... the promoter of one of the other nights now being held there forced a cancellation not at their instigation - and at very short notice. They tried to contact her to sort out whatever was going on and got nowhere. Were completely in the dark about the real motives/reasons for getting blocked.

Shame they never had a look at Atzaro Beach. I see Flip flop went from there to scirroco so maybe they could have gone the other way???

They have an established crowd from London coming out over the Season but they won't be wanting to travel all the way up there on the whole for a day party.

to be very honest, if I was a promoter, I'd be very careful about doing ANY event on the island this year. i've said it various times before and it's been written elsewhere too, the market is completely oversaturated this summer. there is simply too much on offer.

I don't think their worry was about numbers. Very early in the season was quiet but pretty much everywhere is and the venue expressly said they were expecting that. Basically their party got ousted from the venue just as it got busy. As a promoter what would you make of that ? I think the tell-tale they failed to really take on board was the express direction from the venue not to promote the night and what that really meant. It does look to me very much like the venue agreed with other promoters to let it run until the Season kicked in on the understanding it would be cut when things got going.

When a venue is so concerned about keeping things low profile within established legal operating hours the likely political reasons are not too hard to work out.

Spot on as always! I was looking at Thursday 29 August as an example and while I know they are not all competing (and some pre-midnight) the choice is insane within a couple of 100 metres of each other:

- Adam Beyer at Sands
- Loco Dice /TINI at Ushuaia Club
- Reboot at Ushuaia Tower
- Richie Hawtin etc at Space
- Claude VonStroke at Sankeys

The only venue you could compare to Scirroco in that list is Sands?

Exactly - and on Saturdays it's been pretty much only Ants.

zoo project?
bora bora and tiare every day?
the boat parties and ocean beach?
ushuaïa tower?

honestly mate, I know about the issues AOD had and I know they have a loyal following, but I can only repeat, there is so much going on every day of the week it's really hard for everyone this summer.
