Are the club owners thick?

There are people from all over the globe who go to Ibiza, not just London so the price difference between London and Ibiza is a moot point.

The price of alcohol in the clubs is ridiculous and it is preventing the clubs from making more money, so yes, they are thick.

I enjoy having a few drinks when i go clubbing, but last year, i honestly did not purchase one drink when i got into the clubs simply because of the exhorbitant prices.

I disagree that it's a way of keeping the drunk trouble makers out. Someone who wants to drink and cause trouble can do that in a bar........why would they pay 35 Euro's just to get into the big nights to drink themselves to death and cause trouble when they can do that at any of the bars around Ibiza which don't charge an entry fee?

The only people that are winning out of the ridiculous drinks prices are the drug dealers on the island because it's much cheaper than drinking.

I met a lot of people, many mainland Spanish and a few locals, who don't go anywhere near the big clubs due to the prices. This leaves a big gap in the market.
Small venues try to fill the gap, but the big clubs make sure they don't succeed. Look at Pin Up: could have been great if it survived. I dare say Somny will suffer the same fate by next year.
Its a shame, but a big part of what Ibiza is about: money, money, money!

I know a little story about Pacha and it's alcohol, but that's not for this message board !

Let's just say they are making a nice enough profit every week !!!
:D

If we knew half the sh*t that goes on behind the scenes at the clubs we'd all be pretty shocked to the point of not returning.
Corruption, deception, violence, blackmail, etc.etc are all part of our lovely little dance scence.
I've worked at a few clubs, seen a few things... and its not pretty!

Altho saying that did you ever go to Home in it's short-lived days  they turned all the cold water taps off in toilets so you couldn't fill water bottle up or get drink, which is pretty much illegal in this country.

The same happened at Vibalite many many many moons ago.

its only really brits that are going to drink like a fish, spanish and italians arent going to bankrupt themselves with a few vodka limons

The Club owners aren't stupid. They know you're gonna go there anyway, no matter how much your Baily's Irish Cream on the rocks costs.

DON'T CONFUSE STUPIDITY AND GREED!

I guess I don't buy mixed drinks when I'm in the UK because I'd cause a ruckuss if what they serve in Ibiza is 3 times what you get in London!!! They're normal mixed drinks, by Moscow standards, for about 1.25 - 1.5 times the price on average. :?

And why is everyone so down on beer drinkers? I often substitute water with beer... costs about the same and keeps me grounded. :o

As for the prices: insane, of course... but that's part of what you sign up for. Hit the bars beforehand and then pace yourself, I say (though I wouldn't complain if they lowered the prices)

It's New Years Eve every night and day in Ibizas big clubs but we all know that so take enough cash and enjoy!

beer is certainly not a replacement for water. It actually does the oposite and will make your body dehydrate faster... watch out from that.

I should clarify... I start with beer and as the night moves on switch to water... I'm pretty good at judging what the body needs when :)

but I'm not a beerboy! that was my point!

I don't mind the prices of the drinks in Ibiza Town; it certainly keeps the wrong sort of people away. What gets me is the price of drinks at places like Salinas and Bora Bora. Especially the latter, I bought a round of drinks there once and it cost me over 50 Euros!!!

I was well gutted and found it hard to capture that happy luvey feeling synonymous with their beach party vibe.

What you all need to remember is that in paying the high entry and drinks prices of these clubs, you are actually paying to keep the clubs in business for the 9 months of the year when they are closed.

The clubs are only open for a quarter of every full year, therefore you have to pay 4 times the amount in order to make up for the months when they arent trading and making money.

Ok some fair points.

My wife read this thread and told me that it does not matter anyway she will be getting drunk at the bars in the clubs with my money anyway 8O

I guess I'll be doing the same
