Most of the top corporate companies will be involved in this sort of thing at one time or another.
Anyone embarking on a career as a PA/Secretary for Accenture has to be educated to a degree level, however, not so many people with degrees are that interested in these roles, they tend to veer towards consulting roles within the company.
You also have to remember, London is a very transient place, and people tend not to stay in the same company for a long time, we have the highest attrition rate within this area than any other area in the company. On average our PA's/Secretaries in London will stay in a role for approx 2-3 years, aim to marry a fastrack consultant, give up work, produce babies and live off their husband's rather high salary (that is a bit of a generalisation to be honest, but there are definately a few of them who think along those lines )

Thanks, that makes total sense, it's similar to the situation on here.
And the mocking bit aswell. I can't understand why it's a profession so prejuiced

Isn't it! I've had years (weeks) of people telling me I simply HAD to get a myspace page, finally got around to doing it, and now everyones like "mywhat? I'm on Facebook doncha know!"

I think you'll be very good aswell, Sar, you are very organised, you are good with social relations of any kind and then there's an endless world of lists behind the profession
That's what I did - finally got down with the kids and got Myspace but now apparently it's all about Facebook
I've given up on them all

Well if its not too far, come down tomorrow its on all day - have a look at the link - see all the other companies with stands there..... more than happy to pile a heap of paperwork on to you and give you some tips....
And looking at your photo on Myspace - you definately have the skills to be a Secretary

IMO it's more about personal skills than studies. In Spain it's not difficult to get a job as a receptions in a small company (a very good job to start and learn about the job) or as a secretary assistant, the difficult is to move onto a more exectuvie-personal role
Its like that here too from what I have found - as in they prefer you to have some kind of experience on your CV as opposed to what you have done at college.
I actually got a job out of my college course but was made redundant along with all the other trainees 6 months after starting. So was doomed from the start really!

Yeah I would definitely be interested. Have been looking for a new job/better opportunities for a while now.
if so, I shall be manning a stand at the Olympia on Wed 16th May from 11.30am telling people what a fabulous company Accenture is, why I work for them and basically trying to entice any budding Secretaries into my puppy world of Sensible Exec by day.......
