I dont agree with what someone said above saying that its not a safe place to be at the moment. I think its probably one of the safest in that region. The authorities have increased security as you would expect and have claimed that numbers visiting region are nearly back to previous levels.
Id say go and enjoy it. Bet you have a brilliant time. The local people will really appreciate it too as the Balinese did in the aftermath of the Bali bomb.
Yeah hopefully america will have invaded egypt by then and like Iraq, it will be better & safer for it
I wish I'd read this last night Stephen (apols if you're a 'Steven'),

No you are correct. It is Stephen.
I was also going on the basis of what Bali was like after the Bali bombs. I was over there a couple of months afterwards and I had such an amazing time. I was overwhelmed by how grateful the Balinese were that we had made the effort to come to Bali after what had happened.

I've been to Egypt twice and I would say that you really want to opt for the best hotel standard you can.
The first time (Hurghada)we went it was to a 4 star which had an amazing lobby but the rooms were very average and not overly clean.
Next time we went (Taba) we stayed at the Marriot 5 star all inclusive which was much more like it.
There are plenty of deals around for Egypt at the moment, I had a text yesterday from a mate who is in Sharm for a fortnight he said it was great.Plus if you're a diver (don't know if you are?) it is noticeably quieter rather than the normal which is get the the surface and pick a boat out of ten that could be yours![]()
Egypt's a great place for a week away, even if you don't dive the snorkeling is fantastic and the weather is always fantastic.

I shan't relay all this to Anna now Ibiza's booked but will take it on board for our eventual trip. The Marriot at Taba was the £400 one - did you visit Cairo from there Ed?
Haven't dived but may learn if I can get eyes corrected with laser surgery and throw way darn contacts!
BBS said:Buckley, speak to me about the laser surgery if your interested in having it done. I researched it massively before I had mine done and am very happy indeed with the results.
