Anjunadeep styled music

I find it kinda weird and unfortunate that there isn't a weekly night going on the island for this style of deep-tech proggy house. Closest we had was Soundgarden in 2015 but they had the events running on the worst day (Monday) and don't understand why they couldn't do like Tues - Thurs instead.

I know there's competition on those days too but I feel it's a bit less? I dunno. It's just I affiliate Ibiza really with this type of music, guys like Guy J, Nick W., Hernan, 16 Bit etc. I don't know why but I do. Like honestly some of that techno and especially tech house stuff gets boring and I thought there would be a need for this style

Yes, I agree. Unfortunately beatport decided to hijack progressive and associate it with Edm which was very disappointing. Never seen that happen before but they must have thought the original genre was dead. Soundgarden had already been and gone by the time I got to Ibiza last year. It was good the year before but wasn't exactly busy. I'm not sure there is anything wrong with a Monday night, it doesn't harm cocoon or circo loco. Unfortunately I think the genre just isn't popular which is disappointing to say the least. You could throw in gai barone and some of the coldharbour guys or the likes of basil o glue, styller and Danilo Ercole at the prog trance end of the scale and create a really good weekly night which would be right up my street but I don't think there is a market for it.

Well now very recently Beatport finally reverted back to categorizing prog house properly.
Also, Cocoon is just the epitome of the Ibiza clubbing experience and I think folks like myself who like both styles of music would be hard pressed to forego Cocoon for any other event on the Monday...

agree with LBS, I don't think there's a market for it, especially considering there are various big nights on every given day of the week.

it's turned into somewhat of a niche style, I for one like it lots, but none of the artists really have a huge pull nowadays compared to the headliners of other styles. I'm aware though that elsewhere these people are still hugely successful and sell out clubs

For me there is only two types of house music..Good and Bad..:) I have no idea deep fried tecy prog is or do I care.. minimal was great when it came out with guys trying to say the word when off their tits...

What is deep tech proggy houseo_O?..is that like monza techno minimal? I miss techmo miminal
No. Nothing like Minimal. King of the scene at its peak was Sasha in the mid to late 90s. Check his northern exposure compilations with diggers. The scene went on well into the 00s though. Fine exponents were nick warren, digweed, tilt, Gabriel and Dresden, Jody wisternoff, spooky and Francois k. It often went into two directions - deep house or slower building trance which commonly referred to as progressive trance.

Prydz now is what I'd describe progressive house to be. The anjunadeep label has a lot of it on its roster. As does coldharbour. The words epic and hypnotic spring to mind.

Beatport hijaked the term progressive house to describe edm sometime ago. This was particularly strange as the two genres are nothing alike whatsoever beyond repetitive beats. Looks like they have returned the title to its rightful home now though.

Whatever night it was on it would no doubt clash with something else I like! Cocoon didn't seem quite as busy last year though. It's speaks volumes that a seasoned global clubber like @cunninghamali doesn't even know what it is! Anyway, you, @stivi and I would probably find ourselves in a crowd of three if it returns at the present time. I think we would enjoy it though! Looks like prydz is doing a residency at hi so this maybe the compromise.

Would luv a renaissance, adjunadeep type night. Dave seaman, hernan cattaneo, emerson, sasha, guy j etc. Some techno nights get boring coz they dont go anywhere n just plod along at the same beat all night

Saw this advertised for this weekend in Dubai - didn't know whether it would be worth going!

Its massive in Dubai and north African places like Tunisia, Egypt and Istanbul.. Deep Hish and his brother being playing all over there for years now..:) I don't like all that whaling desert house that popular last few year with the woomooners so hope it won't be all.that again this year..:)

@cunninghamali check out anything on Sudbeat, Anjunadeep, and lost and found. That is what I'm referring to. Cox's Revolution nights in 2015 had Guy J I think on the terrace and I *think* nick Warren. Does anybody know how those nights went?

I think prog house has been replaced by the sorta deep techno style Solomun and the other guys on Diynamic play (Dixon, Mano Le Tough etc as well) and I like that sound too but just wish it was more like the prog stuff from the guys I mentioned in my first post. I know Soundgarden is holding monthly events in Ibiza but sucks it's not a weekly thing.

There's a following for this style in Toronto, lots of peeps came out for a Guy J and Cid Inc. here... thought it was a very suspense filled set by Guy and one of the best sets I heard last year. I think he can do Cocoon too, or maybe this pint of beer is kinda hitting me hard right now lol. I mean these guys had the other Guy, Guy Gerber play on a date and he plays even slower sometimes!

But yeah also Woomoon styled music has also kinda replaced the prog house I like... I'm all about it still

If Prydz is doing a residency then maybe he'll have the DJs I'm talking about also on the lineup? I dunno!

Martin Roth was sorta meh in 2015 when I saw him, but Jody is great. Not sure about the other two. Try it out.

And why does Anjunadeep keeps coming out with Ibiza compilations every year with zero events on the island?
