Amnesia terrace sound system

Im a bit fussy when it comes to sound...& have a finely tuned ear which can be a disadvantage (my kiddo often says “I wish you didn’t have your ears mum” - she can’t get away with anything!)

I like clear fat deep base & treble with the right pitch. Void is amazing! Anyway, the last time I was at amnesia (few years back) went to Cocoon. Sven on the terrace, but couldn’t stay there as treble was so high pitched & base distorted. Ended up going into the main room & danced to Luciano playing a rolling thumping set & the sound was awesome. I couldn’t stop dancing - you know when you don’t even want to talk to people, you just wanna go off! Well it was like that.

Avoided amnesia after that as nothing tickled my fancy in the main room whilst on various trips. This time I’d like to try music on with Oxia & Carola but concerned about sound quality on the Terrace.

I think you really have to find the sweet spot on the terrace. In a night club of that calibre, you shouldn't really have to do this, but it is a massive space which may make it difficult to engineer.

I like two spots on the terrace. Right hand side of the DJ booth as you look at it, elevated near the bar. On the left about mid room on a raised area (courtesy of @stivi )

Absoloutley love the main room soundsystem. So crisp and deep. . Sounds excellent if you've got a woomoon type of night, deep, melodic etc

I think years of poor sound systems at various places have damaged my ears, big spaces do struggle, i personally didnt think space discoteca was 'amazing' as a lot did but from a personal pov Fabric room 1 and digital Newcastle are personal favourites, now defunct Bed in Sheffield was very good also. i much prefer quality over power now though

Yeah, I remember walking through people, standing here, standing there, listening, feeling the beat, listening .... I just want to feel & hear it! Probably annoyed my hubby & everyone else moving from place to place.....plus you invariably get moved out of the sweet spot.

Conundrum.....what to do where to go on that Friday....hmmm

Nothing to add here except I’ve never understood the hype over the Terrace sound system either. Always felt like it’s being pushed to hard
I’d like to unlike this, if you know what I mean....that’s exactly what I feel - it’s pushed too hard. Boo.

Completely agree with Fabric, very clear nice system. But as mentioned above its not a huge space like the Amnesia terrace so I assume is easier to create a warm rounded sound.

Have to agree on Amnesia terrace, much prefer the sound in the main room have always thought it sound a little hollow on the terrace but assume it is down to the size and height of the room

Exactly! So what are the options? I Like something a little faster than Woomoon for after midnight.

I still think if you want to you can work round these things. Everything is possible.

Tomorrowland absolutely nails their soundsystems especially for outside. They pretty much throw money at L-acoustics and get it spot on. Amnesia Terrace is big, but not that big

I’ll see if I can get hold of L-acoustics to sort the terrace out!

On a serious note, might have to work around it as you say....the main room sounds like too much tech house for me. Style of music or sound. Shame I have to choose.

The sound has been recently upgraded in the terrace, much better than before, stand in front of the booth or between the bins just after half way back and your sorted!! Main rooms always been a sweeter space for sound though!!

Completely agree that the sound system on the terrace is too loud and brash. You feel like it's close to being incredible if they turned it down a tad, with some fine tuning.

I would also list those two as my two favourite sound systems! Both nail it. For a bigger space Room 1 at Timewarp does an excellent job as well.

Have to agree with this, Amnesia should take tips! It was my first Timewarp and was very happy!

Sunwaves also deserves a special mention, thought their systems were incredible especially tent 4 near the front in the middle!

Thank you. May have to do that. Not much else musically that interests me on a Friday. As it’s June, probably be able to maintain the sweet spot a little easier.
