Thè thing is, it's been losing it's magic in there yr on yr since '06 for me & last time out I really felt it had gone completely, didn't really care if I never sat foot in there again, which is a tragedy, as I used to think it was the most magical clubbing space on the planet, the reason for this was never the design of the place, just the complete lack of effort with the production compared to BITD the day by the promoters, hopefully a revamp will result in them pulling their fingers out, I lived on those podiums for 15yrs BUT since '03 it was a right mission to get a good spot & keep it, they've probs gone for health & safety reasons, I'll reserve judgement, we'll probs end up liking it, aslong as there's still good sound, the ice cannon & those dancers, it'll be right! ;-)x....
Amnesia Main Room Refurbishment!

Amnesia has always been my favorite Ibizan club, the sound system is the best I have ever heard, much better that the main room at Space, my only real issue with it is the lack of chillout spaces, and places to sit down. Being in the terrace with the sun streaming through the windows is such an amazing experience, no other clubs can top it! Add to that the ice cannon!!
With regards to the production from various promoters, I think Cocoon have had the same jelly fish hanging in the terrace for the last 5 years! Will wait and see what they have on offer tonight... Cream and Togethers production has always been top notch though.

regarding decoration, i feel like it's a bit of a general trend really to have less - or then just different stuff. instead of very creative things hanging from the ceilings there are more and more LED walls everywhere nowadays. i for one really liked the deco elements, but it's true there's less these days.
as for the main room refurbishment, i think it's much better now. maybe not for the VIPs up on the gallery, but for us down on the floor, it's a different feeling now. i personally like it!

ah simply because when the dj booth used to be further up, you were on the same level with the dj when up in the vip. now he's further below, closer to the clubbers. not saying the vip is any worse now though, don't get me wrong.

i like(d) cocoon´s jellyfishes, especially when the tentacles move in the wind.
but for my tastethere weren´t enough of the jellyfishes hanging from the ceiling.
ps:
most deco these days = just garbage (or no deco at all)

they haven't had the jellyfish up that long, only since a couple of years when they did the animal theme. Before that it was disco invaders, freak show and wildlife 1 + 2, thought the mad glowing rabbits they used to have up on the balconies were really cool and a bit sinister looking
What's the verdict on the new look main room, now all the opening parties are done?
The reports I've been hearing are that the room has lost its authenticity. With the DJ box at crowd level and the podiums in the middle gone, it could be any other club room. As opposed to when the DJ was high above the crowd, who where also at different levels in the club.
This is just what I have heard from friends, I won't see for myself until September.

i prefer the new one.
in the trance heyday, the tiesto's, pvd's and avb's fitted the booth high up. but time goes on and it's a different period now. the only guy i could still picture playing from up there is papa sven. but even he had a great time playing in the low booth.
interested to hear more opinions on this.

When I first heard about the new main room layout I too was unsure, but having done both Cocoon and Cream opening I am totally won over. It just works. There was something special about having the likes of Sven and PvD playing so close to the crowd in such a grand old space - with features such as the dancers and ice cannon still going strong. With the old booth you just got neck ache and i've heard only positive comments from people so far.
guessing from the many interviews I read of sven over the years and from which clubs he likes to play in europe (in berlin for instance exklusively at watergate with an even lower dj booth than new amnesia) I'd say sven too likes the new booth better
or when he played at The End
