Am I gonna be disappointed?

Being a bit of a veteran, my last visit to beefa was in 2002 and I stayed for 4 months. Haven't been back since and am a tad worried that it won't be as good. I'm off tomorrow and my plans for the week are:

Friday night, arrive - Made in Italy @ Amnesia
Saturday night - bars and general staggering around Ibiza Town
Sunday - We Love...@ Space
Monday - More bar hopping
Tuesday - Defected @ Pacha
Wednesday - Garlands
Thursday back to the mainland...

Does this sound like a good selection or are there better nights on? I pretty much like most house music and am more concerned about a wicked atmosphere, maybe tunes that are not too slow as well.

Any info will be passed to the board for review.

PS is it tru it is impossible to get good little uns now? 8O

Hola MinxyLisa,

Monday - Cocoon
Tuesday- Carl Cox if its on
Wednesday- OM

Thats what id change ;)

I'd do Pacha on Monday for Roger Sanchez instead of Defected on Tuesday (though I haven't checked the Defected lineup for your timeframe - they have some good nights planned)

I would also do La Troya @ Amnesia instead of Garlands on Wednesday.

You could put in some quality time at Bora Bora on Saturday too.

I went about 2 weeks ago and did the Nautical Voyage on a Friday night, it costs 50euros but is worth it, just take some booze with you on the boat! It doesnt matter how much you take as long as you can get wasted!! They give you a free drink when you get on the boat. Have a look at www.pukkaup.com

Id do pure pacha tomorrow night, Manumission on Monday and either do Bora Bora on Saturday or Sunday and then go on to Space for we love Sundays.

What ever you do, just have a wicked time and come back lovely and brown!! ;)

x

Roger stinks IMO. The Defected nights have been consistently very good. Great lineups, and the music has not been the commerical BS that I expected to hear. I'd stick with Tuesday at Pacha. I've been 4 times this season and always enjoy myself.

I agree with La Troya on Wednesday. OM is too deep for me.

Monday do DC10 in the afternoon, then to Bora Bora following. If you have the energy, the crowd generally heads to Cocoon, but I prefer to sleep.

Them's fightin' words
Do not slag Roger. In the 5 times I've seen him play, he has never let me down.

This is true. I even enjoyed Junior Jack & Kid Creme when they played the opening... they went deeper which was appreciated (there was an annoying MC though, unfortunately). Sandy Rivera is the man.

But I'd still vote for Roger if I were going to choose 1 Pacha night.

The MC hasn't been back. And it's all been deep. Tuesday Chus and Sandy were tag teaming and it was great. Shovell has been there weekly with the live percussion, and frankly I just think Defected has out done themselves this year. I didn't like them at El Divino, but they fit perfectly at Pacha.

Roger bores me. Plays the same stuff each week, which all sounds like his radio set. It's like the House Top 40. Just my opinion. I've heard him play in the states several times, and I've enjoyed a few of his sets, but overall I've never hopped on board. Different strokes for different folks. I was merely offering a differing opinion.

I only see him play once or twice a year, so maybe that's why I've never felt his sets were repetitive. Also, he usually starts out more mainstream but gets deeper and deeper as the night goes on. It's an 8 hour set, so it can't all be big hits. I'm a big fan, as you could probably guess  i just like his energy 'cause it's infectious.

Never been into Defected. They have some good guests this year though I must admit

Nish you'd hate Defected, one up from Hed Kandi imo.

I think they've got Krivit as guest one week and Dope Man as guest another week but apart from that the line-ups are the same old same old funky house shit

I just seen Krivit and Kenny and thought they were on form. Bastards had me off.

I should have seen it coming

I can't be bothered

All I need to know is that Garnier isnt playing anywhere  (which is probably why im not that bothered about going this year)*

*(when I say bothered Im not that fussed but everynow and then I really want to and if there's anyone who's reading this and wants to take me then please do so thankuplease)

Wrong. As noted above, they played much deeper stuff at the opening. Sandy Rivera was very solid. And even JJ & KC reduced their commericial "same old" to a respectable level.

It's not very inspiring reading, think the same old same old JJ&KC, Rivera, blah blah blah line-ups

Is he nowhere, very strange :?

I'll sneak you in my case Nishy baby ;)

I can't even be bothered to get involved in a Defected slagging match, I've been to enough Defected nights to know unless they poach a good guest ie Krivit, Kenny etc they are a big pile of poo

But you didn't go to them in Ibiza this year so you don't know what was being played. I've been to a few Defected nights before as well and it was definitely a different set, at least on the opening night, than you usually hear from these guys.

I went expecting to hear the same old "crap" and was presently surprised. The only downside was the now-banished MC.
