Anyone got any cool holiday recommendations for us? We've booked the last week in October off, and want a cheap-ish holiday away, but not sure where to go :?

Ideally somewhere hot, but with lots of stuff to see and do, places to explore, historic places to visit etc?

Definately not a boring sunbathing beach holiday.... something that's going to be interesting? :D

Can anyone recommend places to go?

Is that just one cheap bear Sandi or have you missed the 's' and there's loads? I'd go anywhere where the bears were resonably priced and monkeys too!

 Just realised it might not be a money thing, maybe these are slutty bears! Loose grizzlies in short skirts, white stilletos and lurid bright red lipstick!

NB No animals were hurt in the production of this rather poor gag

I would suggest Egypt, too. So much to see history- and culture-wise! And the rest of the time can be spent in the Red Sea, just amazing sealife.

I think Egypt is as safe as any of those volatile countries at the moment, but it is a bit of a party pooper to have all that armed military force walking around everywhere... :? Unless you regard that increasing the safety and therefore see it as a positive thing.

Greece! Really cheap, great food, great scenery, will still be warm enough and some of the most important historical sights in the world!

I agree with Nostrum, Andalucia is fantastic, you have everything you are looking for and it's quite cheap compared to Ibiza or Barcelona.

Of course, you should consider a visit to cousin Sil aswell ;)

Yeah but 8 trips to Ibiza has covered Spain ;)

We wanna try somewhere different!

Prague fulfils most of the above requirements, and is very cheap, except in October it's bloody FREEZING! 8O

Went in November with the lads 2 years ago. Took £200 spending money for 3 days, spent £40 on duty frees at airport on the way home, then changed my money back to English and got £87 back! 8O Only spent £73 on transport eating out every day and drinking every night (50p a pint). :D

I would like to see HK, but I think a week is too short for that kind of holiday. Ideally we're looking for somewhere less than 4/5hours away.

I hear New Orleans has got some good deals on at the mo.

Great for watersports, free Helicopter tours of the south coast etc...

You MUST go to the South of France - trust me it's fantastic!

Lots and lots of stunning places to visit, such as:

- Beautiful villages such as Eze near Monaco, Moujin near Cannes etc.
- Lovely Antibes and the neighbouring Juan les Pins.
- St Tropez for it's amazing shops, restaurants, bars.

We spent a week there in May and never stepped foot on a beach - so many places to visit!

Weather in October may be a little unpredictable though :?

a week is enough time believe me!

;)

want me to give me mum a call and expect visitors?

OK, if you don't want to come and meet me  ;) I support Scoobie suggestion, the Greek islands that time of the year must be great

Any bears?

(Athens is great - the builder in me marvels at the things they built with out power tools! Talk about miss the real significance in things! )

Why dont you try somewhere like Paris / Rome, not bad flight prices and although it may be a little cold it means you can do your exploring without getting hot and bothered.

Id love to go somewhere this winter where its really cold, i think its nice to be a couple and get all snuggly and warm and come in from the cold into a nice little french coffeeshop with a nice cup of hot chocolate.

*goes to finish the rest of the mills and boon novel*

Andalucia is a good suggestion - me and Ru hired a car and spent a week exploring that part of Spain a few years ago and it's beautiful, very different to Ibiza

Egypt - Go to Luxor, there's so much to do in a week - the valley of the kings, huge Egyptian temples, nile cruises etc.

Italy? - Rome, Florence & Pisa or the Italian Rivera is stunning but not that cheap

I reckon a week is too long for Prague, unless you combined it with a trip to Budapest or Vienna or something.

Drew???? I cant believe you are not promoting Cyprus as a holiday destination in October - average temp 75degrees, lots of history, great days out, friendly locals and cheap food and beer????
