AKASHA

Also, while I like Knights of the Jaguar, everytime I hear the first beats I am off to the taxi queue. There is only so many times that I can hear a legendary track. Sven is my favourite DJ, but these days he has to be careful not to sound like the old jukebox in the corner.
The Akasha - Sven crowd is still among the best on the island, but I will say that especially the outside bit felt a little "geriatric" in October, no offence :) And I myself am 40+. Crowd-mix is better IMO the later it gets (inside).

Funny anecdote: Two hours into Svens outside set (in October), a lady around 50 asked me when Sven is starting (she couldn't see him). When I told her he is already playing, she couldn't believe me and said "but Sven would not play tracks like these". I asked when was the last time she heard Sven live and she said "Well, in the 90ies, when I went to Omen" 😆 So people like her will never get bored by It's my life or Knights of the Jaguar.
Omen , was like yesterday
Talla and Taucher played a venue in Wiesbaden at Sunday. Its a location for chart music , big and has a crowd as expected. They seperated a part of it for the Trance DJs. If you went to the toilets, you had to go through the Radio ... Crowd in the technoclub area was different. Sound was OK, ... a lot of Technoclub Shirts, Pacha Shirts and raving grandmas. Similar to Akasha, only a little less glam factor ( none ). Not so bad. Friendly people, 2 Beer and going home at 2.

Saw people like me , who were part of the Omen and Dorian Gray crowd. They ar in electronic music since the first Depeche Mode album. A little older , but better. Normal jobs , or retired. Not many gangsters or something.
I'm an arriviste compared to your friends. I have only been a DM fan since their second album. Back then I recorded Speak and Spell and A Broken Frame onto a cassette, with one album on each side. We didn't have wires, but used the microphone on the tape recorder, which was placed next to the speakers of the record player. I then played this on a mono cassette player. Only kinds from the early 1980s know what horrors we had to endure.

I got a record player a few years later for my confirmation.

Today is incidently exactly 39 years since my first DM concert. They opened with Black Celebration. DM played this song at their latest concert a few weeks ago.

Mono tape recorders ... OMG Didnt matter , music was good.

Btw : I think , I saw one of the Band in Dalt Vila 3 or 4 years ago. Was a little out of the season. Think it was martin.

Hernán was amazing last week.
He's such a master behind the decks and a great tune selector.
The atmosphere in the garden was electric and pretty much the same once the party moved indoors.
Too many good tunes to mention but I particularly enjoyed a track that sampled "Sacred cycles" by Pete Lazonby, "Astra" by Solis, "The Lights" by Kölsh & Sasha and "Apricots" by Bicep.
Most definitely going back in July.
Hopefully coming for Hernan 9th, tickets booked but need to plan as hoping to come directly from holiday in Italy

I didn’t get into them until ‘88. Thanks to my German Exchange partner kindly sending me home with a tape. Didn’t see them until last year. The view in Berlin was that bad we went to see them in Manchester a few months later. Unfortunately they were a man down by the time I saw them live. Loving seeing some DM love on here.

Heard some very nice DM remixes in Ibiza , longer time ago. Think it was in San An , in a bar. Anyone a idea which party or club in Ibiza is suitable to play such things ? Everyone is playing tech house nowadays

I mean if you want to go way back, it was Space. The Stuart Price remix of A Pain That I Am Used to was all over the island, especially Space Sundays. Stu / Jacques / Thin White Duke / Paper Faces / Man With Guitar (so many aliases) had the golden touch at that time...I discovered his remix of New Order "Jetstream" on a rental car radio driving around Ibiza Town, which was broadcasting from Space also.

Strayed off topic...sorry. (<--also a memorable remix from Stu!...Madonna "Sorry")

that depeche mode remix was awesome.

According to users on insta, Sven played FkaTwigs ‚Sticky‘ and ‚Perfect Stranger‘ at Akasha. Now THAT is my Sven, total curveballs and amazing, surprising tracks.

I didn't feel it at all when he played it (sticky) 😂
also because he played it pretty much in the middle of techno tracks, to me it didn't fit at all in that very moment
