Advice wanted!

recently we have been getting late night anonymous calls on my g'fs mobile which are starting to annoy, it started about 2mths ago and was happening 2-3 times a week around midnight, they withold the number, and never speak, just hang up when we pick up, i did start to shout "fook off" down the phone for a while, but made no difference, recently i started saying things like "hi, how are you" and it stopped for about a week, but now it's back with avengance, 2-3 time a night, we have put the phone on silent the last few nights so we dont get woke up, but the calls are still there in the morning. she called the police, got a crime number (on the advice of orange) then went back to orange who have now said that apart from changing her number they can't do anything, she dont want to change her number, so my question/beef is, surely they can trace numbers through the network or put a block so withheld numbers dont get through? I mean this is harrasment at the end of the day, isnt it?? If orange dont do this facility, do any of the others?

p.s apart from her ex, who is a proper dick, we dont know wh it is either, she emailed her ex to ask if it was him, he denied it, but then again, he's hardly going to say "ok it was me, sorry, I'll stop now"

is he??

err ok? to be honest, I thought better of you, but.....you know what thought did eh??

I would let Orange know that unless they're more helpful you will change network at the earliest opportunity. It's amazing sometimes what they can do when they don't want to lose a customer. They must be able to help you trace it, they probably just can't be arsed for a mere personal customer. Can they not restrict withheld numbers? at least for a month or two until the weirdo gets bored.

Especially now you've involved the police - that should move it along a bit :?:

Pain in the arse mate, may be worth biting the bullet and changing numbers?

Chewie - enough is enough now don't ya think?

now thta the police are involved they have to do something, and yyes they can block with held numbers, so handsets allow you to do this yourself, they can also trace the number doing it through the network, if you give the poilce the number of who you think it might be, they can also trace that to!

Are you sure?

Didnt think they could trace it myself.

You can just set your phone to ignore withheld numbers mate?

This was happening to a mate of mine, some bloke calling him at annoying hours with death threats etc, saying my mate was calling his mrs, but he had no clue who his mrs was??
Anyway he called his network and they knew the number that called, even though he withheld it. They could only tell him the last 5 digits, but he chatted up the woman and she gave him the whole thing!! But thats unofficial! He told the Police to, but they couldn't do anything until it was "malicious", which had to be more than like 5 times in a couple of days or something. It sounds like it is getting like that now though mate so go down and report it again. They deffianetly can trace the location not sure about names unless the mobile's registered to them I suppose. At least if you get the last 5 digits it would rule out if its her ex or not. Hope this helps, let us know how you get on.
