ADVICE NEEDED

You may remember a little while ago that i had an accident on the bus which resulted in me flying backwards and hitting my head on the luggage rail and damaging my coxis sp.

Well they have sent a letter saying that they are experiencing delays waiting for medical reports to come back so without waiting for delays and such they are willing to offer me £500 now but if i think this isnt acceptable i can propose that they obtain the medical report and then make another offer.

Dunno what to do :?

permanent damage you can probably get more than that, and also if it affected your career in any serious way

Or you can have a great xmas for you and your friends and family this year, rather than waiting months for money to come through. (actually, didn't you just win the lottery??)

chase up the medical reports.

or go down citizens advice and seek some free advice on the matter.

£500 sounds a bit derisory

It takes ages to get a medical report, when I had my car accident it took nearly 2 years for me to get my money cos of waiting for appointment to see independent medical person, waiting for reports etc etc. You should definitely get more than £500 so it's worth holding on. I'd almost forgotten mine so when the cheque finally came it was a very nice suprise :D

Thats the thing, as its not permanent and i only missed 2 days of work i suppose it could be worth it :?

No i didnt win the lottery , i was just bored that day, sorry

I would wait - sim thing happened to me - didn't hurt myself that badly.

It took under a year to go through and I got just over a grand. :D

Its taken from June until now to get this first offer, disgusting

I think i may wait it out, i'll speak to Joey later to see what he says. I think they are meaning to get my medical details from my doctor before they make another claim.

Makes me seem greedy though :?

Yeah it can take a while  But it may just be worth the wait - I think if you take money straight away makes it look like thats all you were after.

Yeah just best to try and chase medical reports :D

I had a similar situation like yourself! Not the accident i mean but not too much damage making me wonder if it was worth the effort chasing things up! They will always make a weak offer initially and i was advised not too take this as they are more or less trying it on! You should at least mangage too double what they have offererd hopefully!! The system takes it from us in more ways than one so don't sell yourself short..
Good Luck.... ;)

Did you lose money by missing work or have to pay medical expenses?

Nope i never lost any money from work, didnt hav to pay for any medical expenses. It was just the emotional scar of it all.

I think i will take the money though.

DEAL OR NO DEAL?

Was it just bad driving by the driver?

Because if there's no real damage and just one employee of a private company is to blame, I think that's a very reasonable offer. (Unless you've incurred some expense as a result of the incident?)

Aka

"I want to milk the accident for all it's worth, as it looks like a nice little earner.

Everyone else seems to be doing it (I read it so in the Daily Mail) so why shouldn't I?"

That was kind of the point I was making, but perhaps in a more gentle way

Mambs - I think you should take the 500. Holding out for more when you didn't really have any losses is bordering on dishonest.

Unlike my "unique brand*" of putting a point across ;)

* - In the same way Bernard Manning or any (shit) rude comedian is said to have a "unique brand" of humour.
