Advice needed for 2008 trip

Am planning a 2 day trip over for the Space and DC10 opening parties, which i assume will be on 1st and 2nd of June next year. We are looking to streamline as much as possible, so will not be booking any accomodation and not taking any luggage. Has anyone done this before and how did it go? What are some good places to crash for a few hours between Space and DC10? Is Cocoon likely to be open on the Monday night or is it peak season only? Are there any really cheap hostel-type places in case anyone in our party needs a proper bed?! Is the Space opening as good as everyone says?

Well I have to give one to the authorities as I didn't think anybody actually did this. I thought it was a rumor they made up to attack people that went to clubs. Do yourself a favor and stay a couple of days on the island and check some other things out. You will be glad you did. When people say the island is magical the clubs are part of it, but it also encompass's many more things like the culture, beaches, landscape, etc.

Thanks for your post but a little naive to think this doesn't happen! I don't see much difference between what i'm proposing to do, and going to, say, Glastonbury festival for the weekend - i sure didn't sleep much when i went there! Contrary to what you seem to think, i have been to Ibiza before and experienced a fair bit of the 'other' aspects of the island. I am also planning a week long trip in Sept '08, but unfortunately cannot afford to do this twice in one year, hence the desired cheap couple of days in June!

I'd imagine most hostels will be already full! You will probably find a room for £15 a night (maybe even cheaper), I'm sure it would be worth it for an hour or two's rest and more importantly, a shower!I don't think you are charged for hand luggage by even the cheapo airlines so if you get a room then I'm sure a change of clothes would be good too!

Hi there! We've been doing the long weekend thing for 4 years now - its really good!! Sometimes we have stayed at the Don Quojite Figuertas - really really cheap, bit tacky - predominantly gay/spanish hotel - but a fantastic roof top pool (views anyway) and inbetween space and ibiza town. This year we stayed at Tivoli apartments pdb but didn't get to stay there - they hoofed us off down the road to their sister hotel - so I dont recommend this one - although it was nearer space :).
We always take hand luggage only and if you are arriving at what you think may be a peak time - then book a transfer in advance (we usually arrive at night ) as there is a bloke waiting there with your name on and its hilarious when you go outside and see the mile long taxi queue when you are gagging to get clubbing! I've not done without a hotel yet - but most of the hotels/hostels in pdb are ok and lets face it you are hardly ever in the room - this year the 5 of us went and we landed friday night - went out, went out saturday morning, then slept at about 8 oclock in the night for 2 hours, then went ibiza town drinking (vodka helped with the sleep deprivation by then!) then went out saturday night - had a couple of hours sleep sunday morning then we realised we were hungry - ate something crap and then danced at bora bora all day till midnight when we had to go airport to get home. so really apart from 4 hours at the hotel we weren't there. . . it was only 140 quid between the 5 of us for the room though. have loads of fun - and my best tip is WEAR ALL YOUR HEAVY STUFF and decide on your outfits (female tip) before you go so you only take what you really need - a change of shoes/flipflops/trainers are good if you are dancing loads the last thing you need are uncomfortable feet!
Hope this helps and sorry about the long post - but I love my weekend trips!

Thanks mate, a very helpful post. Have looked at Don Quijote and they have rooms for £9.76 a night, awesome! See you at Space!
