Advent Calendars

That's always the question with multiculturalism, isn't it?

Do we celebrate everything? or nothing? :?:

And all that chocolate not eaten?! Sil! The chocolates in my advent calendar are normally eaten by 2nd December

I don't like milk chocolate or chocolate milk, I only like black chocolate and there's no advert calendars with dark chocolate :D

I think everything should be celebrated and then be up to the individual if you get involved. If we ban everything surley we're on a path to suppression? This is the west after all!

People can celebrate what they want but if you include one thing that can't be proven you have to cover the whole range of daft ideas, from Christianity to Flying Spaghetti Monsterism.

Nath - Advent calendars aren't part of my culture and I was born here.

It's Xmas - great, let the kids have some chocolate and make it exciting by sticking it in a calendar. But linking it to a fairy tale that encourages them to believe a complete load of cobblers is just plain wrong. It offends me that people are allowed to teach, as fact, a load of rubbish that someone made up as a method of control. Selling that bullshit to kids with chocolate is a f***ing outrage.

Xmas is great, as is chocolate. But the Christ story is as real as the tooth fairy and shouldn't be taught as fact to anyone.
Are you saying there was no Jesus of Nazareth? Or are you saying there was no virgin birth in a manger with a bunch of random strangers and farm animals around?

Thats ok though because Christmas isn't a christian festival, but a pagan one which those pesky christians tried to pinch.

I'm saying I could I make up something as ludicrous and it would be as true. And it would be wrong for children to young to know better to be taught my load of rubbish as fact, as with the JC 'fable'.
