A technical question for I-Pod owners

Hi everyone

I'm one of the long-time 'silent observers' of this board...I have a little problem and thought I may be able to find the answer here, as people are into music/related technology.

I have a 20G iPod which was capped when I bought it (volume was set at low level) and I managed to uncap it using some software I found on the net. I've bought my boyfriend a 30G iPod for his birthday, and it's also capped, only this time we can't seem to uncap it! Maybe because it's a newer model, the software doesn't work, we've tried all sorts of iPod forums and no joy.

Does anyone on here have any idea how this could be fixed? It's very frustrating having all this house music which should be listened to at full blast, but you can't :-((

Many thanks in advance guys

The EU has volume limits legislated for portable music devices with earphones... to protect your precious ears, which are apparently more sensitive than ears elsewhere

LC, have you tried going to Apple.com and downloading (and installing) the latest American firmware for that generation of iPod?

You can change the mp3 volum on itunes, but I doubt I can explain it in english. :?
Yes, but that involves changing all your music files to boost their inherent volume... not the best method.

There's an easier way to fix the firmware (the software inside the device that controls how it operates) so that the iPod itself plays louder.

I see what you mean, thanks
Anyway I don't like music loud ;)

How is life?

Speaking of JC, I cannot cannot cannot believe I couldn't make G-Bar's 10th birthday last Sat, did you go maybe? Apparently it was the best G-Bar in living memory, people still dancing on the bar at 9am.... Devastated....

Impressed with the Spanish (language) mate....good on you! (what does it all mean?! :? )

take care
