A non-clubbing, mini break review :)

So, whats the best news you've ever been told?... the answer to this question is probably different for everyone, but for me the answer is 'You've won a trip to Ibiza!'
Yup, I won my husband and I a mini break to Ibiza, 2 and a half nights, 3 full days in a 4* All Inclusive hotel, in Santa Eularia!

The only downside to the whole trip was having to fly from Manchester, which for us is about a 4 hour drive away.. and our flights were late at night, 11.30pm out, and 1.05am coming back! Ouch! but beggars can't be choosers.

We arrived on Tuesday morning, 11th September and were transferred (FOC!) to our gorgeous hotel, Sirenis Siesta Club in Santa Eularia! What a lovely place, lovely rooms, very comfy beds and a gorgeous view. We got into our room at about 4am in the morning so squeezed in a few hours sleep before our first full breakfast of the trip! What a treat... I know there is alot of AI haters on here, but sometimes its just fab to be able to have whatever you want, whenever you want!

We had woken to full sunshine, temps of around 24-27 degrees! Could not complain at all. We took a walk into town on the Tuesday morning, visiting some shops and generally enjoying the feeling of being back on the White Isle. The weather was absolutely stunning, hot, but not so hot that you can't stand out in it. Really comfortable heat. I now LOVE september in Ibiza! :)

We returned to the hotel for our lunch, again, a lovely mix of curries, pizzas, paella, salads, veggies and sweets! Everything was just beautiful.

Now for the first time ever in Ibiza, we chose to 'sit by the pool'. Something we have never wanted to do but here the pool was so inviting, not crowded and the whole hotel had such a lovely atmosphere it was so easy to relax. Sooo.... 3 hours later, a wee snooze, a dip in the pool and a few cervesas and we were chilled! :) having two little kiddies at home made this relaxation all the more wonderful!

By this point, we had arranged a hire car for the following days with Autos Mari, which had an office directly across from the hotel which was FAB! Lovely service and a great car! :) would highly recommend this company as this was our second time using them on the island. 2 days for 85E didn't seem so bad when the rest of the holiday was FREE!

Following our relaxation, we retired to the room for showers and a freshen up before dinner at the hotel again... YUM once more! :D A walk round SA afterwards, visiting Somiart for some cocktails and sangria, saw a fabulous Cirque De soleil style show which was very entertaining and returned to hotel about 1am for some much needed snooze time! :D

Wednesday morning was a trip to Ibiza Town, our favourite place on the island. We took a new route to the top of Dalt Vila this time, right to the Cathedral which provided an amazing panoramic view of the Marina and old town. Absolutely gorgeous, again, really sunny and warm but a lovely breeze to be able to walk around in. Had another walk around the old town, visited some shops and back into the car. This time we headed to Cala D'hort. I don't think Ive ever seen it as busy. We literally had to park RIGHT at the top of the hill in amongst the bushes. The road was lined all the way down, with some very questionable spanish parking! lol. Relaxed with a few drinks in the restaurant to the right of the beach (as you are looking at Es Vedra). Then returned to hotel to freshen up before heading to San Antonio for the obligatory sunset, followed by a delicious steak dinner (for hubby) and Beef burger (for me) with Mojitos and sangria! This was at Sunsea Bar. Gorgeous. Had a walk down through the town, and along the front of the bay. We were accosted by some rather large black women trying to heckle us with bracelets, NOT a pleasant experience. Enjoyed seeing the young folk wearing nothing more than a string bikini, or baggy vests and weird shaped baseball caps! (i'm only 26 and this all seemed very wrong even to me! lol) Each to their own though.

Returned back to hotel about 1.30am for another lovely comfortable sleep!

Thursday was a more overcast day, so we ventured up to the church in Santa Eularia, a lovely walk up past the local schools. A beautiful building with a very interesting cemetery, which I would love to know more about? A further walk around SA, a few drinks in a few cafes, a quick rain shower and a return to the hotel for another afternoon of relaxing by the pool before a shower, dinner and bus to the airport around 10pm for a horrible night flight! NEVER again!.

A brilliant holiday, in a beautiful hotel... just not long enough. Will definitely endeavour to return with our kiddies next year!

:) xx

Sounds great. Have to admit I'm finally tipping over the edge towards wanting clubbing-free trips to the island in future.

Got the partying well and truly out of my system this Season and it definitely went off with a big old bang ... but the bits I really cherish when I'm not there are the memories of times on the island on the outside of the clubs and bars. Feeling an "inverted mid-life crisis" is upon me whilst reading this ... and I really quite like it 8) :!:

Great prize btw ... what a scoop !

Believe me, it happens to the best of us! I'm 36 and the people at work take the piss when I tell them im off to Ibiza, they all say im too old and I'll be the oldest person in the club, they maybe right but unlike previous trips where seeing daylight was rare, Mondays foray will be a bit more of a mixture, we plan ( if it will happen or not is another matter ) to visit Formentera, spend some time up in the north and maybe hire a car if the buses dont run when and where we want to go and spend the money we would of done clubbing every night in decent restaurants, and to be honest i'm looking forward to Mondays trip more than I have on my previous visits

LOL, until 2 weeks ago myself and my husband were Ibiza virgins at 38 and 52 and all of the club night we went to (4 in total) we saw plenty of people of our age and several people a couple of notches older. So I guess we're at the other end of the spectrum having made a first venture at our ripe old ages. We booked the return trip the day after we got back and clubbing will definitely remain a feature for at least the next visit!!

I get this all the time, little do they know eh? :D

In June when we were over the average age was lower but there were still plenty of people over 40 in the clubs. Last week, I think us oldies outnumbered the youngsters considerably.
