7 Bars Have Music Equipment Officially Sealed.
7 bars with the license of Café Concierto in the Sant Josep area of the island have had their music licences suspended & the music equipment sealed officially so that they cannot use it this week. The Town Hall justified this action because the café conciertos were letting people dance in the bars where as under the terms of their license they can only let people listen to music or watch a concert. The owners of the affected bars said that this action by the police & Town hall was ridiculous. They claimed it was due to pressure from the big discos who want these successful bars closed so that their clients go to dance in the discos now the season is drawing to a close & numbers of tourists in the big discos are dropping.
Neighbours living & working near the bars concerned said they wondered why the Town Hall had waited so long as they claimed these bars had always caused noise problems, problems of public disorder & a bad image for the island in the areas where they are located.
