5-HTP

I have never had it b4. Im now guna take one b4 i go out and when i get to hotel after partying. Does that sound ok to you lot who seem to know alot about it?????? (i will also be taking a few E's by the way)

One at a time won't do you much good, I usually take 3 or 4 at once before I go out, When I get in & when I wake up, that's a total of 9 to 12 & I don't get a comedown at all

i've taken it before, im currently taking st johns wood as it also produces seratonin and is alot cheaper :D

i must admit of took loads in ibiza and did not feel right when I got back, then again this could be because of other antics..

In future i think ill take a few before hand, and maybe a few a few days after clubbing.

I was once told that even after clubbing ur brain is still shooting out seratonin therefore to try and put it straight back can damage you..

So many theories I dunno what to believe anymore :?

Jon - you should also avoid taking St. Johns Wort when out in direct sunlight so its probably not a good idea to be taking this when you are in Ibiza ;)

In reply to Conrado, in England & presumably other countries Fluoxetine (also known as PROZAC) is a prescription-only anti-depressant!! Can't believe it's available without prescription in other countries! Madness. :o

For some drugs you might need a prescription (Viagra doesn't). For Prozac and most antidepression drugs you don't need prescription. You'll need prescription for most sleeping pills though, specially benzodiazepines (diazepam, bromazepam etc.). But it's okay when you have friends that are doctors, they'll give you the prescriptions.

By the way, MDMA was first used as anti-depressant, and you don't need a prescription to get E...

so what's the verdict?
should i start taking them a week before I go? Every night before AND after clubbing?.. in the middle of a session?
so many different responses!

HAVE BEEN TOLD BY A MATE THAT YOU CAN GET THIS NEW STUFF FROM HEALTH SHOP AND APPARENTLY GETS RID OF COMEDOWNS. If so RESULT! has anyone tried it?

it works' great...replenishes seratonin levels.....take it a day before for an intense experience...and take it after so it makes you feel better ;)

this is true. It basically promotes the secretion of the happy hormone serotonin and the best bit is, it helps promote good sleep and general good outlook in life. 60 pills cost about 20 pounds!!!! 2nd best thing in a suitcase to condoms!!

5-HTP - medical explanation

a little techincal jargon for all you users (5HTP that is :) )

Good for before and after clubbing, but be warned it makes for some very amusing conversations with friends, when you can't separate your dreams from reality (crazy, crazy dreams....... :? ). I managed to break my skylight above my bed at 2 am in a frenzied effort to escape from my sinking submarine .......aka my bedroom...amusing for friends but not for me......

5-HTP (5 Hydroxy-tryptophan) is a natural substance already in our body that is made from tryptophan. 5-HT, minus the P, is the symbol for serotonin and your body naturally converts 5-HTP to 5-HT. Serotonin is a neurotransmitter, involved in the transmission of nerve impulses. At the neurochemical and physiological level, neurotransmitters are extremely important, since they carry impulses between nerve cells.

Low serotonin levels are believed to be the reason for many cases of mild to moderate depression which can lead to symptoms like anxiety, apathy, fear, feelings of worthlessness, insomnia and fatigue.

5-HTP promotes self-assurance and can give your emotions stability and balance. It gives you the ability to think rationally, not emotionally. It can increase your ability to concentrate and restore lost drive and inspiration. 5-HTP is also used for supressing the appetite.

So get taking the stuff or have all this bad $hit later!!!

Hmmm . . .sounds like the stuff could be worth taking anyway , whether you are caning it or not.

May give it a try in isolation without the other chemicals.

Just looking back on this old thread wondering how people had found things after using the 5 HTP before and after a night out.
I bought a bottle at the weekend as I am planning a big night out on Saturday so I am going to take one every night this week and next and see how I get on.
Interested if anyone has any experiences to share :)

I tried it a few weeks back (not the caner some of you are!) and whereas I've usually had things pretty bad the morning after, this time I was fine. I combined it with plenty of vitamins and some magnesium for the gurning (get it in pill form, the ribbon's really hard to chew ;) ). All seemed to do the trick. Might be psychosomatic but they're definitely getting used again.
