Actually, Stalin created an artificial famine in Ukraine that killed off half the population 8O

Kazakhstan actually produced a large amount of grain for the USSR... Khrushchev plowed the northern third of the country in the Virgin Lands campaign.

For years I used to think there were 51 states...

all down to bloody The The, on their Infected Album.... one track kept repeating "this is the 51st state of the USA"

God I loved that album - gonna have to hunt it out again.... 8)

Absolutely amazing album. Probably his best work, though Mind Bomb (with Johnny Marr) is a close second.

...and I was just thinking when this thread started that song might be why some people in the UK had the number of states wrong ;)

I cant believe its been banished away in the back of my dessicated brain and it took a post on here to remind me of one of the most brilliant albums I have ever heard.....

Mind Bomb, in its own way is exceptional but Infected is just pure delight, I used to travel to work on public transport back in the olden days and listen to this album on my walkman - made the 2hr journey bearable....

Only own the album on vinyl, just ordered it on CD.....
 
I copied it off a friend of mine. I had a cassette with that on one side and Depeche Mode - Some Great Reward on the other side. Needless to say, that cassette was well worn :lol:

I've both on CD and MP3 now. 8)
