At that time he had no previous convictions, again criteria in his favour which ensured the sentence was suspended; however, if found guilty this time, he will have to complete this previous conviction.

ever wondered why spotlight doesnt work with GPS? well, now you know it.....

glad i asked advice on here about where to stay as 6 of us were gonna book 8 days in september/october and stay in tivoli or jabaque but after reading this i don't feel too confident so i think jet apartments will be safer option... 8)

well from what i heard from some very high locals lastweek.gsp could close at anytime.gps is just a low cost hotel/apartments and very limited food.sell cheap and pack them in.trouble is most of the places he had are either half empty or not even open.

think we have to go back a few years and say is it sirenis or fiesta hotel group fault for selling some of there hotels to gps.in playa den bossa.has last two weeks resort was very quite.with mosr familys now staying down the old fiestaland.

some bars are shut in pdb.those that are open are not doing as good.

or is it that bubble as burst.and a/i in hotels is to blame.

Ive been looking on lots of holiday sites that sell the cheap holidays, and 99 % of their hotels are GPS hotels, and they are still selling the holidays !!!!!
Im not booking with any of them now, the companies like lowcostholidays. travelrepublic, might all go under as well now, as their holidays are based on this crooks hotels, it way too much of a risk,
plus all gps hotels in San Antonio, have a bad reputation for rooms and safes getting robbed by staff, you only need to look on tripadvisor , to see how scary it is,
Was looking forward to going away September /October time, but a lot of hotels on the island are these hotels, and the chances of them being open or even functioning, is not likely,
on one site I looked at it said a few hotels were being shut while they were there this month,
I dread to think what impact this is going to have on the island of Ibiza, give it 2 years and it might resemble a ghost island,if no-one buys up this chain of hotels, and thats if this guy will even sell them

Ferré

After further investigation into the affairs of the hotelier, Fernando Ferré Cardó,
who remains in prison accused of fraud, money laundering, falsification of documents,
and crimes against his workforce, it was found that he had been using trademarks
of well-known establishments on the island to get the attention of potential visitors.

Included in the more than three hundred limited companies in his possession were
“Hotel Apartments Café del Mar”,
“Hotel Apartments Café Mambo” and
“Space Apartments”,
all well known businesses on the island which had never had dealings with Ferré.

He sold beds via the internet in the “Hotel Catalina-Café del Mar”,
and while the Catalina lies close to the famous sunset spot,
it does not have any ties with it.
The owner of Café del Mar, Ramon Guiral, said that he was only made aware
of the situation late last year, after receiving an e-mail from girls
“complaining about the bad service that they had experienced while holidaying
in the “Café del Mar, San Antonio”.
He then contacted Ferré, who promised to remove any mention of the Café
from the website, although it seems this was never done.

A spokesperson for the Space Discotheque stated
“This is the first that we have heard of it, but now we have been informed
we will lodge an official complaint, as we have the name registered in all fields,
and will be handing the matter over to our lawyers”.

Meanwhile the Hotel Federation of Ibiza and Formentera continued to demand
the immediate closure of all of the illegal GPS hotels,
which amount to some 2,500 beds.

The group claimed the Island Council had had enough time to “fix” the situation
and now was the time to act.
Their anger was not appeased after it became clear that despite promises
by the new administrator, Javier Perelló, the company was continuing to sell properties
which had an official closure order from the Island Council, although the latter
reminded the Hotel Association that because GPS had appealed the original resolution,
the final decision on the establishments in question was not yet definitive.

Meanwhile, Perelló announced that the company would have to seek an additional loan
in order to pay the June salaries, something which is keeping the workforce
within the company, some of whom are pictured above at a meeting, on edge.

I would hazard a guess that "certain authorities" MAY have been paid to look the other way:roll:8O

If the same efficiency used to exterminate the "illegal Taxis" was employed to the "illegal beds" then there would be no problem.

I wonder what "other" skeletons will appear from the closet in this affair..................

I did look on your site, but your all inclusive options seem to be very limited, we,re not drunken idiots, but we like to be able to pay for everything before we go, and for some reason, the Bergantin seems to be almost double the price booking through your pages,
Im very grateful to your forum and tripadvisor, as we had planned on going to the Maritim, and through this forum we now know why the hotel seem to be collapsing, so we have no intention of booking any gps hotel.

I think this is going to have a huge impact on the tourism in Ibiza, unless someone buys all the hotels, and puts decent staff in them

Very few people on the Island will mourn the loss of the GPS managed hotels. IMO, the closure of GPS will only benefit the Islands tourism industry.

From what I understand GPS dont actually own the Hotels. Some of the hotels are owned by investors who lease them out to GPS.

Grupo Playa Sol

The Grupo Playa Sol story continued to dominate the news once again this week,
and it was good news for people working for the hotel chain,
as the recently appointed Administrator, Javier Perelló, confirmed
there would be no problems with their salaries for the month of June,
which they will receive before the 10th July.

He also confirmed he had been able to negotiate sufficient funds for back payments
to be made to workers still due to be paid for overtime carried out over the past
six months, although this would be remunerated in monthly instalments
at a rate of €500 until the debt has been cleared.

All of the parties involved in the GPS case, such as the Tax Office, Social Security,
the Trade Unions and even Fernando Ferré's lawyer, are in agreement
that an outside auditor should be appointed to assess the company.

According to the lawyer working on behalf of the unions on the case, Manuel Pomar,
“an in-depth analysis of the economic viability of the Company to ascertain what it has,
what it spends and what it receives in income needs to be made before
further decisions can be made”.
The lawyer, after a meeting with Perelló, claimed he was optimistic,
as most of the hotels are completely full.
He also urged the workforce to join the union concerned, the UGT, as they have far
more strength to negotiate, and to carry on working “as though nothing has happened”.

Last week the initial estimate of the amount of money owed by GPS was in the region
of €250 - €260 million, and the assets are conservatively valued at €310 million,
so the Group is therefore not bankrupt.

The future of establishments at present being rented by the Group are in a far more
delicate situation, in that, once the rental agreement has ended, in theory
they should be handed back to the original owners, although sources close to the case
confirmed that if a mortgage had been taken out on the property,
the former owners may not be willing to take it back.

Mar amantis

The MAR AMANTIS SISTER HOTEL TO BERGANTIN in san antonio bay is usually quite a reasonable choice for all inclusive.. And there are many nice hotels that offer a selection of board basis on this site that are not gps. THE TAGOMAGO IS A LOVELY SMALL FAMILY RUN HOTEL ON THE BEACH IN SAN ANTONIO BAY..
