10 ways Ibiza will change in 2020

Interesting read. Have to say, Rap and reggaeton are really not my scene. They can also call it what they want, I'll never embrace VIP raving. Next year I'll be in San an for my usual Trance week but then going to spend a week in Portinatx. Bar one trip to benirras and a winter visit to a mostly closed San Miguel, I've never been to the north. Judging by what's to come I think I'm timing my segregation to the North perfectly

Not that I disagree with him, but Johnny's annual predictions always tend to be a bit wishy-washy. But actually, this year is probably the one he's stuck his neck out a bit further than normal.

VIP - or the service under another name - may never find favour amongst the masses of certain generations, but he's absolutely right that the younger generation don't have this same stigma.

Let's face it "upgrade" culture is everywhere in the modern world . I mean we buy £1,000 brand new phone and then we have no qualms in spending another £10-£20 on a case and screen protector... mental.

they'll never stop branding it VIP though, as suggested. somebody paying extra for additional services also loves to call himself VIP, and not 'upgrade' or 'extra' or something. also why should they rebrand it. it is what it is and "the dancefloor" will always have scruples about the ones above :)

* Go Large * could work..

I like the drink and cover cost package idea, I think that could work.

I don't know if tech house will become so popular that it starts invading circo Loco. I really hope not as the only sorta tech house sound I want there is from Squallace, Tanzmann and company, but not that bigger sound Bodyworks. TBH, Camelphat is more of a bigger prog house style over tech house

Also, if Ibiza really wants to be serious about plastic waste they should make the water drinkable at least and have consistent bus service everywhere and more routes

One thing I noticed about the plastic waste, and maybe it's been mentioned already, when we were in DC10 the water came in these little cartons that looked a bit like mini versions of UHT milk cartons.

I actually thought my missus had brung me some milk ?‍♂️?

Ok, I'm in the club and want to drink something, but please without f***ing drink packages ... that's ridiculous, what's the next..... reservation at the dancefloor ?

This is only a "forced" to go to this club, what if the evening is different than planned? ( because this is ibiza ! ) Did the voucher then expire?

......sorry for my english ;-)

They'd have to find a way of making the drinks 'tokens' unique to the ticket holder, or people who don't drink (i.e those on other substances) will be reselling the drinks tokens to the drinkers in the club and there would be €0 cash sales at the bar.

And yes agree more buses is needed, amount of Cars is getting crazy in Summer but a few bus routes still only have sporadic service.

no offence but the buy drink tokens instead of entry is a completely made up idea by the writer and will not ever happen. I for one would save a lot of money but every word written about it here is a word wasted.

Whats the problem to buy a drink ? Btw : The service girls need the tip. They are not rich and need that in most cases.

They mean with the VIP packages its moving more towards buy your drinks in advance. For example in O Beach you pay a minimum of 35 euros for a basic bed but its 35 euro minimum spend, so in effect its a 70 euro ticket but it sounds better when its split. Bit like the 99p sales price rather than £1.

Personally I dont like packages, how much I spend on drinks fluctuates massively on how the night is going. And I dont want to be in a good set and then be thinking 'Amnesia still have 50 euros of my money at the bar' im a tight Yorkshireman and would want to spend the last penny!

A NEW GENERATION OF UK RAP TALENTS SECURE DEBUT BOOKINGS

Don't care if they make €450 for a sip of the last pint Tony Pike ever ordered, if I ever hear a rap record in an establishment in Ibiza that I'm in, day or night then that's it

Im not a fan of Rap and Grime taking over in Ibiza. It is a genre that is neither electronic that Ibiza is famous for, or a Spanish genre so you can't say its traditional either.

Surely Ayia Napa needs a new scene after Garage? Leave Ibiza alone!

Okay, I’m gonna make my predictions, because why not?

2020, VIP areas are starting to look kind of creepy. Old dudes looking like jabba le hut keep hanging out with 20y old pornstars at Ushi. Meanwhile, Star DJ Marco Carola ask Pacha owners to make more space and shrink the VIP area as the club is too small for music on.
