Today I am grateful for what I have and who is still with me. 7am Wednesday before last, whilst at work, my fioncee phones me to tell me that a building a few door away is ablaze.
My long term mate Mandy who lives next door rushes out after smelling the burning and immediately phones the firebrigade. Her partner Pete rushes out and kicks in the door of the property on fire and saves our nieghbours dog. He runs upstairs after seeing childrens toys and thank god there is no one there. He risked his life by putting what could have someone elses first.
The fire spreads quick destroying 7 properties.
Throughout the morning my missus is phoning me worried as the fire is out of control and speading in both directions. When I get there the police wont allow us in and say that they arent sure whever our house is safe. It takes 14 fire crews battling the blaze to finally get it under control and then put it completely out.
Thank god no one was hurt but several people lost everything they ever worked for.
We was allowed back in the next day and I was so grateful it didnt affect us. I feel for those people who lost everything.
2 days later some vulture scum bags robbed what was left of the occupants belongings. Filth.

Then just when we thought normality was about to resume this week , things take a tragic turn for the worse.
I was on the phone to my dad who phoned up to talk about the England game when there was a knock at the door. It was the police. After speaking to my missus they called me to the door asking if I knew someone called Pete xxxxxxx. I said yes and that he lives nextdoor with my mate.
After knocking and ringing my mates bell they shouted through the letterbox to open up as its urgent.
She was in the bath and it took her a few mins the let them in . I was puzzled asking if Pete was ok . They said dont worry he hasnt done anything wrong and that i will find out in a minute. As Mandy opened the door the police run back to grab me saying I needed to be there.
The next moment will stay with me for the rest of my life. They sat her down and announced " Mandy..Pete's been killed"...
The last 10 days have been a stern reminder that you can lose anything or anyone at anytime without warning...
A week ago he was a hero and a week later he's gone.
Tragic
RIP Pete
