as mentioned in previous posts........................................

 the record shop ibiza records (c. baleares, where what's up? ressie nano vergel used to work) closed in mid-october. as you might remember, megamusic also closed one of their two shops in ibiza town (the one in c. ignacio wallis) last february!! :x

 the new record shop 92db (c. manuel sora 17 1st floor, almost opposite the erotic shop the bedroom) opened recently and its managed by the legendary alfredo and his son jaime fiorito!! 8)

 kanya, which will be demolished to do a complex similar to coastline cafe, is ready to be knocked down after they have been clearing the place out during the last weeks!!

http://www.spotlight-forums.com/showthread.php?t=26451

 what used to be nordkapp (the scandinavian bar in the west end opposite strikers), which was for rent last winter and remained closed this summer, is being reformed and will be open soon. expect a south american flavour as its being run by the people behind azucar (the salsa/latin club in cala de bou next to the restaurant boucala)!!

http://www.spotlight-forums.com/showpost.php?p=919592

 what used to be gusto (the restaurant in ibiza nueva next to keeper), which has been closed since last december, is still for sale!!

http://www.spotlight-forums.com/showpost.php?p=813591

 what used to be the mao rooms (the lounge bar in c. d'emili pou 6, now owned by el divino), which remained closed this summer because they didnt have time to finish the reforms inside, will reopen next summer as el divino lounge!! :p

 the gay bar teatro (c. de la virgen 83) is for sale at the moment :!:

http://www.spotlight-forums.com/showpost.php?p=940899

 the restaurant fusion (next to hostal la marina, known in the past as zenith cafe and gecko) only lasted one summer and is for lease :!:

http://www.spotlight-forums.com/showpost.php?p=950831

 penelope, which is expected to get a serious facelift this winter, might reopen for new years eve and the guys behind monza and balearic people also showed interest in doing something in case it reopens at some point during the cool season. as expected they are excited after their successful first season and have lots of interesting projects (to have la troya is one of them, as revealed by daltvila in june) but we all remember what happend this summer with the never-ending-reforms of certain club so it will be better if they concentrate on finishing the works in time for next season!!

.................... and now some new gossip:

 the bar kings in the west end (a.k.a. the bull bar) is in ruins at the moment. they have knocked down everything, except the exterior walls, to be rebuilt!!

j8pjqt.jpg

 the striptease bar gorms garage in the west end (renamed temptation this summer) is already doing building works. apparently the legendary bar, opened in the 70s by pepe roselló from space who still owns it nowadays (and known back then as el refugio, a restaurant with bands playing live), will be a space bar!!

Dcp_1067.jpg

 the bar bn3 in the bay (opposite donnegans) is changing location as, apparently, the actual owner of the local didnt have the correct licences!!

BN3.JPG

 the gay bar trapezzio in sa penya (c. de la virgen 61, known in the past as cargo) only lasted one summer and is for lease too :!:

i think the moral to mackie's transient tales is 'who'd be a bar owner in ibiza?'

a little bird told me that, apart from a new bar, they also want to do apartments above. as you can see in this picture taken some hours ago the remaining walls have been demolished too :!:

although last year there were already rumours circulating about it, according to which pepe was interested in doing something with gorms garage (which would make perfect sense after the fiasco when he tried to open a new club in ibiza town, near burger king, and later in san antonio, near villa mercedes where now theres the town hall, and the authorities said nooooo), seems like next summer it will be rented again by the same people so no new space bar for now. apparently they want to make it bigger (upstairs) and renew all the electricity installation :!:

azucar will be moving from the disco by the boucala back to it's old home in av dr fleming - the secret garden. but only for the winter season.

Didn't even know there ever was a scandinavian bar in Ibiza  ...

On second thought it makes me happy that I never went to the west end enough to find it throughout these years! :D

the mermaid is also a scandinavian bar. and gorms garage was named after a viking king..........

talking about kings, kings some weeks ago before it was completely demolished:

 old news but here we go..... after 15 years rented by the french holiday company club med, the 4-star hotel at the end of playa den bossa is getting a complete facelift and from next spring, when it will reopen as palladium palace ibiza resort, it will be part of the fiesta hotels again. the 17 or 18 years old huge complex needed a serious renovation which would cost a lot of money to club med so they deciced not to renew the contract, which is perfect for matutes and all his future projects for this area. the infamous ex-politician wants to do a golf course in the land behind (between the complex and the road to las salinas) accompanied by bungalows, etc so now is the right time to make it even more luxurious and modern!!

foeolh.jpg

 and talking about luxurious hotels..... last week it was announced that, apart from insotel fenicia prestige in santa eulalia which is expected to be ready by next season and sal ibiza gran hotel in ibiza nueva which is expected to be ready by 2007 (they forgot to mention mirador de dalt vila although i reckon this one will be 4 stars, not 5), in 2008 there will be yet another 5-star hotel in ibiza, this time in cas capità (santa eulalia). as you know already, so far the only one is hotel hacienda na xamena in san miguel!!

this is how it will look like:

 after 65 years open the restaurant formentera in the port (famous for its borrida de ratjada) has closed its doors!! :(

a little bird just told me that it has been rented to pizza hut who will open their 6th restaurant in ibiza next year. as you might know already, the other five are in playa den bossa, west end and av. dr fleming in san antonio, santa eulalia and av. ignacio wallis in ibiza town (btw, the last three are open during the winter). on a curious note, the owners of the franchise in ibiza are the same people behind casino ibiza (and yes, also the future 5-star sal ibiza gran hotel)!!

 last saturday the gay club anfora was in the news due to their problems to legalize the capacity of the establishment for 110 people, after the previous owners did some building work without license. it was first denied by the ibiza town hall and now also by the TSJ (tribunal superior de justicia de baleares)!!

 caprabo was in the news at the beginning of the year because of their problems to open their first shop on the island, in the new vila parc center near can misses to be exact. back then it was reported that they had to reduce the metres in order to get the opening license (from 870 to 415).......... a friend who works in the new bowling center (which opened last friday) told me that almost one year later they still have license problems because now they have 1000 metres ( ! ). apparently if they reduce it to 800 they will be able to open in january. apart from the new bowling center (owned by the guy behind cine cartago and the multicines), the sirenis group offices (owned by matutes) opened long time ago and the cam bank (owned by the devil too) opened recently!!

 a new record shop opened last week in ibiza town: industria (c. bartolome vicente ramon 28, just around the corner from m15), run by jonathan tena (electrofunk@laroom, muzik on@lola's, elektra@somny) and pepo lanzoni (la comunidad@space). this one, like vinyl club, is specialized in vinyl and minimal so if you are a vinyl junkie into minimal/chungie-chungie/grinding-drug-noise sounds you will love it!!
