Tribal Island is only around the Corner
SANKEYS IBIZA: TRIBAL SESSIONS

Excitement has been building ever since it was announced that one of the UK's most iconic and multi award winning nights, Tribal Sessions will finally be making a sensational debut on the White Island this year with a series of weekly 12 hour marathons every Wednesday from 6pm-6am at Sankeys Ibiza. Tribal Sessions (Sankeys Soap’s weekly legendary night and the offshoot club night of the Tribal Gathering Festival) is the only night ever to be recognised by a UK national museum for contributing culture to the City of Manchester and by the quality of the line ups announced, it’s intent is to create a similar legacy on the island of Ibiza. (http://www.mosi.org.uk/collections/.../oral-histories-online/story.aspx?person=4560)

With Tribal Sessions having set one of the most eclectic musical formats other nights around the world can only follow, you can expect the Ibiza version to set equally high new party standards on the island. Focusing on the underground and keeping its 'forward thinking music without prejudice' mantra close in the mind, there will also be an extra fun element added to all Tribal Sessions Ibiza parties with its famed feathers and facepaint format.

Headlining will be the most sought out and talked about names from the worlds of house, techno, disco, bass and more. There will be sets from huge legends such as New York’s original Tribal don Danny Tenaglia, plus fellow city men Todd Terry, Victor Calderone and Francois K. There is also music from newer stars like Gorgon City and Axel Bowman. Elsewhere you can expect packed out parties with the likes of Chicago’s DJ Sneak, Paul Woolford, deep house don Move D, techno royalty Len Faki, Derrick May, Jeff Mills, Ida Engberg deep techno man Mr G playing live and plenty more. Regular residents include Darius Syrossian, Hector Couto, Jozef K, Sidney Charles, Shlomi Aber and some select shows from original Tribal resident and bona fide legend Greg Vickers.

Over the course of the season, the parties will run for 20 nights to celebrate 20 years of the Sankeys movement. The opening kicks off on Wednesday the 21st of May and runs until Wednesday the 1st of October 2014. Tribal Sessions is already one of the most talked about nights on the whole of the White Isle this year so make sure you get your tickets sooner rather than later.

Tribal once said that all they wanted to do was save enough money to buy a party island and retire from society forever… now that Ibiza is their party island, this year maybe it should be renamed as The Tribal Island.

ARE YOU TRIBAL?

He's playing Paradise at DC 10 though.

It's going to be interesting to see a tribe called paradise and tribal sessions go head to head this year. I know they moved tribal sessions from Thursday's to avoid going up against ENTER so they obviously fancy there chances up against Jamie jones ngt. Hopefully the result isn't two thinned out venues instead of one venue packed and buzzing

I think the reason he played the Manchester Tribal is because he might not be able to play Sankeys Ibiza, same goes with The Martinez Brothers. DC10 won't want them playing Sankeys.

So one minute we have DJ Sneak playing at Aoki's Playhouse in July, and now there's VIP Tables in Sankeys?!!

What's going on!

i understand your point, but sankeys had tables last year already. even dc10 has a table section in the main room...

If some muppet wants to pay out enough money to buy expensive drinks and thereby pay the DJ fee and just watch you have a good time. What's the problem? Haha

Well if Lawler, Siragusa or Syrossian start throwing cake about Sankeys, I'm on the next flight home! Haha.

:):p

SANKEYS 20th ANNIVERSARY
The celebrations kick off on June the 25th with the world famous
Tribal Sessions party in Ibiza

DUKE DUMONT presents BLASE BOYS CLUB
Opening Party: Monday 30th June
WITH OPENLAB LIVE IN 'THE BASEMENT'

2014 marks the 20th anniversary of the world famous and iconic nightclub Sankeys. To celebrate this huge milestone, Sankeys will be programming an array of special projects and underground events.

Sankeys, the leading underground club, and the Best Club in the world 2010 as voted by DJ Mag’s famous poll, is proud to announce the start of its fantastic 20th anniversary celebrations.

Ibiza, 25th June 2014 (Toga Media).- Sankeys Soap first opened its doors in June 1994 on Jersey Street in Manchester, England. Beehive Mill was a Victorian building built at the start of the Industrial Revolution. Since then, the club, with its headquarters in Manchester, and newly opened venues in New York and Ibiza, has been at the heart of the electronic music scene, pioneering new club night concepts, offering up a versatile choice of musical styles and doing so in the finest club spaces imaginable. The club was recognized by the National Museum of Science and Industry in Manchester for contributing culture to the city. Run by music devotee David Vincent, Sankeys is celebrating in style this summer with a series of special events hooked around the number 20.

David Vincent says on the eve of the 20th anniversary: “At this moment in time, I can safely say that Sankeys Ibiza is the number one club in the world right now. In the last 20 years of my career I have been involved in four of the best nightclubs in the world, The Hacienda, Ministry Of Sound and Pacha Ibiza in the 90’s and Sankeys Manchester in the noughties. All these clubs at some point during these periods were recognized as being the best clubs in the world. Comparing Sankeys Ibiza to these clubs, I can safely say we are the best and I’m extremely proud of what we have achieved in the last 20 years.”

The celebrations kick off on June the 25th with the world famous Tribal Sessions party in Ibiza. This special party will see the likes of Darius Syrossian, Gorgon City, Just Be, and US house pioneers Todd Terry & DJ Sneak gracing the decks. With an established and devoted following, Tribal Sessions is a unique night that brings together many different styles under one party banner and a night all others aspire to. To celebrate 20 years of Sankeys, Tribal Sessions will be throwing 20 parties this summer. This is the legendary party that’s turning the island Tribal.

Sankeys will be hosting 20 events around the world from Peru to Brazil, Japan to Switzerland and Croatia to NYC. It will also be putting on its biggest event to date, a 20,000 capacity festival. Think big though, because Sankeys only deals in the best as they have proved over the last two decades. This summer we also see the release of a very special Sankeys 20th Anniversary mix CD that has been put together live in the club, by resident DJ Darius Syrossian. The first disc includes all new and exclusive Syrossian tracks and the second is a collection of classics that have defined the club over the years. This is a project that really captures the very essence of Sankeys.

Last but not least, there have been 20 changes made to the club in Ibiza. Details of these will only be made known to those who make the trip down to experience The Lab, Basement and Spektrum.

A word also needs to be said for all of Sankeys incredible partners, most importantly Pioneer, who have helped equip both Manchester and Ibiza with brand new gear. We also have a new partnership with light and laser specialists Steinigke, who say of the pairing: "Sankeys is a successful international brand with international stars performing in their huge clubs - the perfect environment for our devices!" And of course Anthem.

Very few clubs get to hit the 20 year mark, but Sankeys has done so in style, and is very much at the forefront of the global electronic music scene. 2014 will celebrate and strengthen this preeminence and point the way to an even more exciting future.

DUKE DUMONT presents BLASE BOYS CLUB
Chart topping number one artist Duke Dumont starts Sankeys Ibiza Exclusive resident

The unstoppable force that is Duke Dumont is to play 8 exclusive shows on Mondays under the title DUKE DUMONT presents BLASE BOYS CLUB

This fantastic residency starts on June 30th and it runs to September 1st as outlined below alongside some selected friends he will choose to play alongside. Duke Dumont has a long and fruitful relationship with Sankeys that dates back to 2007. Every time he plays the crowds are packed in tight and just last year the man played two sell out shows at Sankeys Ibiza, so his return is hotly anticipated.

In 2013 Dumont topped the UK charts on his newly minted Blasé Boys Club label, with the now Grammy nominated ‘Need U (100%)’ featuring A*M*E* on singing duties and co-written by teenage wonder-kid MNEK. Then, earlier this year in March, he scored his second number one hit in the space of a year with the Jax Jones-assisted track ‘I Got U’. It’s a summery, anthemic and feel good affair that will sound perfect in Sankeys Ibiza.

The most played song on Radio 1 / 1Xtra in the UK, #1 on Billboard's National Club Chart, his previous number one had Duke performing at over 200 live shows around the world and the official video has now surpassed 17 million views on YouTube. In 2014 he is continuing to rise to ever-higher heights and is a welcome addition to the weekly outlook at Sankeys Ibiza this summer.

TOMORROW’S WORLD…TODAY

OpenLab Radio in association with IBZ Entertainment presents:

OpenLab Mondays @ The Basement, Sankeys Ibiza

13 weeks of musical alchemy
with resident DJs Robert Miles & Alex Wolfenden + special guests.

“the most tastefully programmed radio station in the world right now”
Ibiza Club News Magazine

OpenLab Radio plays the very best in new, alternative, electronica and experimental music, across the Balearic Islands in FM and online to the world.

Founded and curated by electronic music pioneer Robert Miles, the station has recaptured the eclecticism for which Ibiza was originally famous and reimagined it for the 21st century.

So successfully that in the 18 months since its first broadcast, and programming only new music, OpenLab has become the official alternative music partner of the Ibiza International Music Summit (IMS) and the destination of choice for the most discerning new music fans around the globe.

This summer OpenLab further cements its place at the heart of Ibiza’s new underground scene with OpenLab Mondays a weekly residency at the Basement, Sankeys Ibiza - part of Sankeys’ 20th Anniversary celebrations.

It’s an ideal partnership as Robert Miles explains:
Sankeys and OpenLab both have similar values even though we execute them in different ways. We both focus on featuring the best possible music and on pushing the envelope with what we do.
“In many of the other events on Ibiza there’s too much focus on presentationand not enough on providing good, credible music. Even now, in its 20th Anniversary year, Sankeys is raw, like clubs used to be in the late ‘80s and early’ 90s. They have that orginal Ibiza spirit and that suits OpenLab very well.

Across a 13 week season (closing party September 29th) OpenLab Mondays’ resident DJs will be Robert Miles & Alex Wolfenden, joined by special guest DJ’s as the weeks unfold.

Also very much in evidence will be the breathtaking visual art that is a signature feature of OpenLab.

“As with OpenLab Radio we’re aiming to bring a breath of fresh air to Ibiza with OpenLab Mondays,” says Robert “and a major aim of that is showcasing music that’s a bit more forward-thinking and original.”

At the core of OpenLab‘s multi-faceted activities is a philosophy celebrating the best of the new – in music, art and ideas – that in under 18 months has drawn together a nascent movement spanning countries and continents. Currently numbering half-a-million people and increasing every day.

To provide a focus for this trans-continental community of forward-thinkers, and augmenting its radio and digital operations,OpenLab plans to open physical centres -OpenLabHubs- in Ibiza, London and Berlin. The first of which, set in the unspoiled countryside of northern Ibiza, is scheduled for 2016.

Ambitious? Certainly. Globalist? Absolutely. Forward-thinking? Defiantly. As were the international travellers who discovered Ibiza in the first place, back in the 1970s.

Meanwhile, back in the present, there’s a party going on next Monday. So join us at OpenLab Mondays for a glimpse into the future and the best underground music to be found anywhere on Ibiza today.
