Well where i work is very isolated. I work 4 weeks on 1 week off, i know its not an excuse to be burning my hard earned cash but no regrets.

I met a guy from Australia last summer who was in a similar position -- working in a remote location maintaining mining equipment, which gave him an unusual work schedule and money to burn.

I'm with others here -- if there's not something more important you need to do with your money, then live life to the fullest. More power to you.

But sorry you didn't get to make more friends on the island to enjoy your night out with. Of course, that's not to say they would have kept you out of trouble! Most of the guys I've spent time with there have been the cause of my downfall.
