Zoo Project - Heavy Handed Security

This is my 7th visit to the island and I have to say it just gets better with the exception of one truly awful experience upon leaving Zoo Project last night, 24th August.

We went to Zoo Project after having a great time there last year. I don't know what has changed this season but the atmosphere at the end of the night was truly awful.

Upon leaving the venue we were locked in at the gates while crowds of clubbers amassed behind us in the dark and the security team treated us like cattle.

When they finally released us into the car park things took a turn for the worse when a couple who were waiting in the Taxi queue were somehow pulled out of the crowd by the increasingly hostile security team and the guy started receiving punches before his girlfriend intervened. Normally you'd expect the upset girlfriend of somebody being "managed" by a UK security team to be held back but in this instance the security men started hitting and kicking the poor girl before violently throwing her to the ground, all this in front of the shocked taxi queue and crowds of clubbers leaving the venue. The girl's partner was screaming 'no' in desperation at this point as he was being held back in a head lock watching his poor gf being set upon. Even one of the other security guards was shouting at his colleagues 'this is ibiza, stop!'

Unfortunately I didn't see how things ended for the couple as another fight kicked off closer to the free bus area and we fled in panic. Luckily all of my group of friends managed to avoid getting caught up in the trouble and we escaped in a taxi but it completely ruined our last night and we can't stop thinking about that poor couple.

I wanted to post this to see if anyone knows what happened and how things ended for the couple who were treated so appallingly by the security team.

I hope that they're both ok but I fear that they could have received far worse after we left. I won't forget that guy's screams, absolutely shocking!

This was definitely not Ibiza!

Wow, that's shocking. Security or not, they do not have the right to treat people like that. Appalling behaviour. Unfortunately some security are like that. I've been heavy handed a few times for basically nothing. They think they have some sort of power or right to do whatever they want.

In future, if I get touched, I'm onto the police. Then when the police get heavy handed, who do you turn to?

I hope the couple are okay though. I can't believe they even set upon a girl. Disgusting behaviour. I hope someone has it on video and they all get what they deserve.

They seem to be quite fond of beating up girls in Ibiza these days - as well as blokes obviously. Reports of it happening at the hands of Ushuaia security again. I think they all just get frustrated and take it out on some random punters on the feeblest of excuses. That's what you get for employing thugs. Will never forget being grabbed by some coked-up baboon posing as "security" and used as a battering ram to force back people from the entrance to DC-10 closing party a couple of years ago. I haven't been back there since and likely won't for a considerable time if not permanently. Don't care who is playing there's no way I'm paying money to be treated like that by anyone. Anywhere. They can stick it where the sun doesn't shine until they learn some manners, decency and respect. The fact some people behave badly is no reason to job lot your anger on anyone in your path - which is basically what some of them end up doing. Poor training and bad judgement.
