I have to arrange something like this for every event we have - somewhere posh, not really my cup of T and I always get complaints from ungrateful staff if it isnt something they personally would want to do.

Look at it this way:-

Your company is paying for it - not something every workplace will do for their staff - enjoy it (I am assuming that your company is paying for this shindig for you??)

The have to do something that everyone will be happy with - not just one individual. Get over it.

Good Food and drink - again its free!!

As PL said we have to arrange these sort of things and theres always people that moan with whatever suggestion is suggested. It’s a hard thing to do to try and keep everyone happy, go with the flow. At least your getting something for free and you'll probably too pissed to even notice anyway (if your going to let your hair down and enjoy yourself that is)
