Xmas breaks

Must be the season for it as just handed my notice in as well and looking forward to joining the Marketing Manager clique!

Discovered today that I get two weeks off over the holidays as the office is closed so looking at getting away somewhere for a week between Xmas and the start of January. Ideally like somewhere warm, ie sun-bathing/swimming warm, doesn't need to be baking hot (and as a Jock, anything over 18 degrees c would probably be considered 'toasty' ).

How is Ibiza at that time of year? Or Barcelona? Anyone have any tips for other places to go to? A nice bit of culture and decent food for veggies would be good, and obviously clubbing would be a bonus!

Congrats on your new job Clara :D

I've been to both Barcelona and Ibiza at that time of year. Sil will tell you that Barcelona is cold at that time but we had glorious sunshine every day and were sat eating lunch al fresco without jackets on. The nights got chilly but obviously nothing like as cold as the UK at that time. I absolutely loved Barcelona cos it's got everything - culture, great restaurants, good clubs etc etc.

Ibiza is similar temperatures at this time of year too - you're not guaranteed sunshine like you are in some all-year round resorts and the nights did get chilly when we went but I have memories of dancing on the old terrace on New Years Day in gorgeous warm sunshine in summer clothes ;)

Barcelona is easier to get to cos you can't get direct flights to Ibiza over winter, however you can get a cheap flight to Barcelona/Madrid and then fly with Iberia to Ibiza - we're doing that this New Year and our flights were only £130 return.

your going again?! congrats on your new job clara! I've always fancied barcelona :)

Thanks! :D

I was in Barcelona in June 05 for Sonar and fell in love with the place. Would be looking at flying from Manchester after visiting the in-laws. Ibiza is tempting though!

Places like North Africa will be lovely but I really fancy some decent clubbing, especially over Hogmanay, and don't really want to have to get jabs.

Barcelona it's not a veggie's heaven but I can suggest you few places ;) The touristic and comercial areas are really busy but it's great, lots of things going on
