World DJ Fund - Cheque Out Ibiza
In 2005, the World DJ Fund will focus fund-raising for Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy on the spiritual home of dance music - Ibiza. Visitors to the island over this summer will have the opportunity to purchase a 'cheque book' offering them huge savings at most of the island's bars, clubs and restaurants.
It will also offer discounts on car hire, taxis, attractions, activities and at all the best shops on the island. Each book will contain vouchers worth over 1,500 Euros and will cost 10 Euros. Funds from the sale of the cheque book will go towards the Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy Centre, a non-profit making charity created to help people with a wide ranging number of debilitating conditions. The voucher books aim to contribute over 100,000 Euros this year.
Supported by some of the biggest names in Dance music, the World DJ Fund has raised over £260,000 since it's inauguration in 2002 for the Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy organisation.
Co -organizer of Cheque Out Ibiza Gary Pitt says "Recent research shows that 70% of visitors from the UK go to Ibiza for the 'music' - these are people with intimate experience of how music can motivate, excite, relax and comfort. But it is not the cheapest place to visit. Therefore by purchasing a cheque book and supporting Nordoff-Robbins they are helping fund music therapy and making personal savings along the way.
His partner Adam Giddens adds "Cheque Out Ibiza books will fit into a back pocket and the format will act like a guide to the island, with the added benefit of offering innovative promotions. Business owners love the concept as it does not cost to put a voucher into the book, but it offers distinct advantages over normal press promotions.
The cheque books will be sold via a roaming team on the island from June through to September as well as stocked at key bars, shops and restaurants across the island. The books will also be available prior to leaving the UK in retail outlets and via a dedicated website www.chequeout.co.uk
Audrey Hoare, fundraising director of Nordoff-Robbins charity says
"This is such an exciting and original project - everyone ends up better off - the purchaser of the book, the venue they visit and obviously, Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy"
