WMC 2006

I am actually browsing around right now for a job I can do a couple nights a week to raise money... I am going to whatever it takes to go to WMC AND Ibiza this year. There is a resort I used to work at in Rancho Santa Fe that is always hiring for banquet and party servers... easily an extra $100 or so a week. Plus, I am sure there are going to be more go go gigs around the corner :P

My bills are just so massive... its frightening to think about 8O And here we are coming in to the season of buying plane flights to see family, buying gifts etc... seems like I will never see daylight.

Hang in there, girl. Good things come to those who work hard and save. 8)

Someone's frequent flyer miles would be a great gift for you!

I know there are cheap flights out here. I just got a flight from LAX to Philly for 186! So from Colorado to LAX it shouldn't be that bad. Cheaper to fly into LAX than SD airport or anywhere else in California.

LAX is far more efficient also. In fact, John Wayne is more efficient than SD.

I have been thinking about it. I need to do some research as to how many of the deep house DJs will be there, and if there are any more reasonable lodging options.

So .. basically decided to go for it! :D :D 8)

Only problem is the guy I'm travelling with might have a problem getting into the US ... he's previously convicted (DUI (no - not alcohol ;) and other minor things..).

Any input on current US visa legislation?

Anyone up for renting a house/villa?

Hate to spend my money on hotels when it's 10 x nicer and often cheaper to get a private place if you're 5+ ppl.

Miami, FL - March 18th - March 26th (Saturday – Sunday) are the dates for the Miami Music Conference, the longest, largest, highest-profile celebration of music in the city's history.

this is btw not the 'real' wmc but a separate conference riding on wmc's reputation. wmc dates are march 24-28.

i went 2004 and had the time of my life but only because i was in the right company. otherwise it's a lot of hassle to even get in a club that you have a presale ticket for, the doormen expect you to bribe them to get in, everything's ridiculously expensive and full of clueless bimbos with their silicones and rich old men.

that being said there are some cool parties as well but trying to find them in the huge amount of happenings is difficult unless you know the right people or are lucky. and the best ones are obviously invitation only. another tip is to stay somewhere in a walking distance of the clubs on sobe, otherwise you're in trouble trying to find a taxi / a parking space.

however if you combine the conference with something else then why not give it a try. we were a week on south beach and then went down to the keys for some water sport action and relaxation.

if someones going this year i hope you'll have a blast :)

For real?! What is this, USSR?

If you have presale ticks they obviously have to let you in? :?

everything's ridiculously expensive

Even more ridiculously expensive than Ibiza?

they have complitely arbitrary door policies there. the lists were a mess, they could just pick people out of the queue for silly reasons like 'not neat enough shirt' and indeed even a presale ticket didn't guarantee you'd get in. also if the flyer says it costs $20 to get in, expect it to be $25.

i actually only bought one drink during the whole conference, it was a vodka cranberry in mansion during the delta heavy party and it was $18  also saw a $430 bottle of champagne on the list

and the hotel prices are a joke. you'll easily end up paying $150-250 a night if you want anything decent on a good location (and i'm definitely not fussy about the hotels)

book early if you know you're going, but take into consideration that there's lots of double bookings and they rather throw out the people who have the lower price - happened to us and many others. anyhow, if you don't mind these few bad points, it still is a great event in a lovely surrounding.

We went to see Howells @ BED this year and our bar tab was $1600 US ..

That included untold bottles of Grey Goose, carafes of Red Bull and a bottle of Dom that I split with my best m8. Well worth the experience, although it's not something I could particularly afford on a regular or even semi-regular basis :P
