Winter Flights 2011

How can we get back and forward to Ibiza from the UK this winter 2011. I can find no direct flights. The usual Ryan Air winter schedule appears to have gone.

Any ideas. We are not residents but have a studio we like to visit at least once a month if possible.

Thanks if you can help.

the same way as most of us who don't live in the south of england, by changing at palma.

Don't think there are flights from Gatwick in the Winter :? ? Was planning on going from there and seemed to involve a change of planes, which is no big deal.

It is pretty sh1t that there are no northern flights in winter.

Would love to pop over for a few nights Dec/Jan.

Just hoping Ryanair announce there winter schedule soon, first one to post it on here when they do wins a prize...or a medal or something!

no, last year they had a hiccup when they published Novembers flights then withdrew them whilst negotiating landing fees with Aena (airport owner). Lots of people got refunds and Ryanair kicked off the winter flights in December. Its all to do with subsidies as they bring a lot of people in and out of Ibiza in the winter, and not just to the UK. I probably flew with them 10 times last winter and every flight was at least 90% full, Ryanair will pull out if they don't get what they want.

Don't see the big deal - Monarch 2-9 Jan for example is £59 return to Barcelona El Prat from Manchester. You can then pick up Ryanair connections to Ibiza for 53 Euros. About £100 all-in and enough time to have a day out in Barcelona on the way.

With a bit of searching you can probably find even better routes.

Considering people regularly pay £150 upwards for return flights in Summer don't think that's excessive ?

Winter schedule's already out. Stansted-Ibiza isn't on it :( but Monarch have started flying from Gatwick to Barcelona in the Winter.

I keep checking the Ryanair site, it will come soon I'm sure. They are hard bargainers and know there is a lot of us out here waiting to book.
I don't mind the connecting flights, just a bit of a nightmare if you miss the second flight. Only happened to me once and both legs were with BA so they put me and my family up in a Hotel and fed us. Mind you, travel insurance probably covers it.
Like a lot of us though, the beauty of Ryanair is you don't feel guilty if you can't make the flight! Buy loads and use a few!

we flew barcelona to ibiza last feb around 60euro for 2 of us for 3nts. left barca at 3pm and were having a drink at 4:10 in figueretes..hotel was 55euro a night with breakfast.8)

getting a bit anal about this now but Ryanair have only got internal Spanish destinations from Ibiza in November at the moment. No Germany or Italy as well as Stansted. I think it will come in time.

Sounds like my "Monarch return flight bin" - as they were selling flights back from Ibiza for about £18 earlier in the year going right through to the start of August, and don't load on card fees, I bought a few of them .. only thing is I didn't manage to board on a single one (partly due to overstaying every time ()) and ended up having to buy last-minute surplus capacity seats off the charter airlines to get home instead ..

I had one of them last year, hand luggage only. The officious b'stards got me in the queue and weighed my hand luggage. It was a very small case but had my laptop in it so was about 12 kg. Got me for £30! By the size of the case you never would have thought it.

:o - never had that - tho' Thomson have a 5kg handluggage allowance. I had 18kg case in the hold and another 10kg with the laptop in handluggage.. pretended I was returning the offending bag to a friend in the car park before boarding then nipped upstairs with it after exiting obviously for a fag . You've got no chance if they nobble you in the boarding queue though. It's all so ridiculous. I weigh about 20kg less than many of the people I see on the plane but get no allowance for that  .. bring back the days of porters and travelling trunks :p

It could well have been Thomson that caught me, For Ryanair I have my 'winter flying coat'.
Ski jacket with so many pockets it looks like a safari jacket from the 70's! I can easily get 20kg's in the pockets! Only a matter of time before they start a pocket tax:roll:

I flew to Mallorca on Ryanair last year wearing slacks over 2 pairs of boardies & 2 pairs of shorts, 3 t-shirts and 2 polo shirts, in order to leave room in my handluggage for freediving stuff & toiletries etc. I only chose them for their schedules and the flights were nearly £220 for 3 days / 2 nights so not cheap. It was absolutely ridiculous and I nearly fainted from heat exhaustion at Birmingham Int'l. trying to avoid another £80 in baggage charges. Unless you are flying between homes with a full kit on the other side - or are a student travelling with a view to doing nothing more than wandering around their silly notion that people on short trips who want to do stuff can "buy what they need at the other end" is absolutely ridiculous.

I hate them for this and avoid like the plague wherever possible ! Rant over.

I know what you mean, I do keep a full wardrobe in Ibiza but there is always something to take, last time on Ryanair it was an amp that took up my hand luggage case, so the pockets were useful! The bad news is they are the only ones that fly direct in the winter so until BA get there arse into gear I am stuck with them. BA don't give a toss what you take with you, last year I took solar panels and a swimming pool cover complete with aluminium roller!
That said, you do start to see the same faces on the Ryanair flights so normally someone to have a chat with.
