Why I love Ibiza

Went out into my local town last night, couldn't get into one pub as I was wearing (quality and clean) trakky bottoms, another refused me due to my trainers....hell fire, in Ibiza a bloke can wear a friggin frock if he likes and no-one bats an.

Another thing, when I did find somewhere accepting a bit of sports gear, at 11pm "oh, can you drink up now, we're closing" on a SATURDAY.

And the FM radio stations are tons better, although it's not that difficult to beat rubbish

Sorry, Britain, Ibiza (and the rest of the Balearics of course) wins hands and feet down.

All the underground dance I hear feels like it was built for that island. It seems made for these clubs. Ibiza is the definitive way to experience your favourite artist live, like the IMAX version of a movie with all the spectacle attached to it. I know these huge festivals, but they don't have the same appeal.

As echoed by others, I like being free, I like being away from everyone at home and partying with thousands of strangers across the globe in one setting.

I always had the same definition of ibiza, ever since my very first visit:

ibiza, to me, is a fantastic combo of being...
- a beautiful island with lots of contrasts, surrounded by the sea
- a place with a climate I love
- a melting pot of nationalities, cultures, views, opinions, languages, orientations...I just love the diversity of it
- a foodie heaven, both for traditional spanish and balearic food as well as stuff from just about everywhere in the world
- a place with an unparalleled nightlife scene. yes, berlin/london/amsterdam/addwhateveryouwant might be more forward thinking right now, but the sheer choice and consistency of events on offer here during the summer is still unreached anywhere else in the world

since 2012 it is also my permanent home now so another reason why I love it. very much like others who mentioned this in this thread, I really do feel home here.

Yeah man, an almost tropical environment with so much music and DJs on display during the summer. These clubs are iconic in dance history and are continuing to make history. Total escapism

Ppl who hate haven't been don't get it and are just jelly.

I visited the island as a wee boy looking for Booze. Birds and parties. Not far from a decade on. I still return for those 3 things. But when I'm at work fantasising about my favourite place on earth I think of the great contrast of people I meet and chilling on the beach at sunset.

I came for the parties. I came back for the sunsets.

For a sunrise at Cala d'en Serra after a crazy night somewhere on the island(club, bar, private party whatever).
For a sunset at Benirras after an afternoon on the beach including a lunch at Restaurante2000.
For a morning coffee under the sun of April at Sant Joan Market.
For a dinner under the stars at La Luna Nell Orto.
For one of the hundreds funny afternoons I spent at my favorite Chiringuito.
For all the great friends I met since 24 years, of all ages and nationalities, ibicencos, English, Germans, from Chili, Argentina, Singapore, Switzerland...
For the landscape, the beaches, the old Town.
And for one million of others things..

the crickets, the smell of pine trees, restaurants called ‘Ca’, remote roads and low walls, , ibicencos autenticos, hierbas, citroen meharis, old stone buildings, mison, padilla, harvey, pippi, that PTX chiringuito, old/new friends, artists, love, narcs, horizons, nudists, guitarists, escape, freedom (of sorts), etc

Others go because of the clubs. I go in spite of the clubs

Maybe it’s because I missed out on the golden years but the whole FGP notion of devising an entire sleepless holiday around cramming parties in is lost on me
It was never the clubs..:)
