Anyone every wondered?

For some reason, I especially noticed on this past trip that there are streets named after this guy in every town and village. You've also go the statue in Ibiza Town. It piqued my curiosity, so I looked it up.

He's an Ibiza-born priest, poet and historian (of distant Croatian descent) who lived from 1883 until 1973 when he died in Barcelona.

Very little about him in English that I can find.

There are two articles in the Pacha magazine in July 2005 by Mathew Clayton about ibiza legends with a nice little photo of his statue sitting outside La Ventana in Dalt Vila (tried to scan and upload but the spine of the magazine makes the text shadowed)
Also an article in Pacha magazine June 2004 in an article about the street names and VIP's from days of old who they are named after.
I am not sure if Pacha online magazines go back that far?
At least they give a bit of info on who that statue of the old bloke with a hat and book sat on the bench in Dalt Vila is that everybody sits next to for their holiday snap!

Good find, mate. Those issues aren't online, unfortunately.
If anyone wants to scan and upload, that'd be great!

From Iain Stewart's Rough Guide, describing Sa Carrossa:

Amongst the foliage is a miserable-looking statue of local historian and author of a formidable four-volume history of the island,Isador Macabich, who, despite being known for his sense of humour,is depicted as a rather serious figure, with a book at his side.
When asked if he was descended from one of Ibiza's most noble families,he replied "In Ibiza there are no nobles,we are sons of seamen,of peasants,or of a bitch."

Who is Macabich?
Already in this thread we have:
Isidor
Isador
Isodor
Isidoro

Are these journalistic mistakes or examples of the frequent name changes that seem to occur in Ibiza ?
