on a night when they come in from work to wind down?

I have just been talking to a lady in the Deli at work complaining about her weight gain recently and she said "well you know what its like - you come in from work, have a glass of wine to wind down and before you know it, you have had the best part of 2 and a bit bottles.."

Is that a lot on a school night - I dont think I could drink that by myself on a weekend night....

A couple of years ago we got into a habit of doing that every single night of the week :o We would have a bottle of wine and some olives when we got in and then another bottle of wine with dinner.

At the moment, I really couldn't function if I drank in the week

I would say that is quite a lot for your average Tuesday night at home

One pint of beer while cooking/eating dinner. Another sometimes afterwards.

2 bottles of wine would probably be a bit excessive

I used to be like that, now I only drink in the week if we go out for dinner or I go out with friends.

The weekend is a completely different matter entirely

 I was waiting for you to pop up at the mention of wine

Aren't we good these days, we're practically teetotal in the week

I can't handle the hangovers, I really miss being able to guzzle a bottle and jump out of bed the next day.

I like this handy tip -

14 units per week is the medically recommended alcohol level for women. Try and cut back on your alcohol intake say by having mineral water rather than wine with a meal.

No **** sherlock.

So well within my rights to say "no wonder your becoming a huuuge porker then - the amount of calories you are consuming every night....."

.... just wanted to check my initial thoughts were correct....

I don't know much about calories but I'd guess there's maybe 100 calories in a glass of wine so she's probably doing about 1500 calories just in wine a day - fat bloater

(sorry if she's a friend of yours PL  )
