I read somewhere The Streets gig at Bar M had to be canceled last week. This, added to the shambles that was early June when I was there for Cream opening that never happened is really testing my faith. This shutting down, along with Manumission having to move, all the bars like Salina's having to get planning permission for their bars, it's all adding to Ibiza loosing what had always been great for, you'd go, party for days and not have to worry about a thing. That is just not the way any more and it can only result in the future of the island being put in jepordy. I absolutely love Ibiza since the first time I stepped out of the plane and got the heat and mankey sewerage smell that hit me, but now I fear I'm going to have to give it up because of all these negative changes. I'm going next Wednesday for four days, this is my 10th year going and next week will be my 15th visit in total and the way things are looking now, it, it may well be my last.

Attitude like that may be the reason Ibiza is apparently going down hill. Who cares if The Streets cancelled, it happens everywhere, it's life. A few bars needing planning permission, again who cares. It's always been about the people and atmosphere in Ibiza, you can get everything other than this elsewhere. Lately, there is more and more people standing in the corner talking about times gone by and how good it used to be. Maybe you've changed rather than Ibiza ?
I don't care about The Streets being canceled, I just used it as an example another shutting down that the island just doesn't need. And I agree about Ibiza being all about atmosphere, that's exatcly what I'm talking about, how can there be a good atmosphere when you don't know where is going to be shut down next or when the authorities are going to flex their muscles again? I've always defended Ibiza to the hilt when people have said stuff similar to what I said above, even in June when I wasted a week over there because the specific club I went to wasn't allowed to open. I'm sure I'll be able to give a better assesment after I'm back over next week, but what I've heard from friends that have been there and back this summer on holidays and from workers I know that go for the summer, it's just not a nice place to be this year.

...I think we can safely say that things really aren't what they used to be.
However, I'm still going back and had as good a time in June as I did a decade ago.
Ibiza is what you make of it, negativity will lead to a bad time anywhere, the place is as good as ever, if not better IMO

I've been once this year and it was quality! My mate went back in late July who also came with me in May and he said it was UNREAL! Sounds like there are some changes going on but what would Ibiza be like without the hauds of ppl who go over ever year? For a start the economic impact would be massive and I think retaining tourism will always be a priority, it's a party Island and as long as people believe in it it will never change!! 8)
