Please help.
Think I need to move! :x AS SOME OF you know, ive been accepted for Cabin Crew, for myTravel, BUT!
....
There are virtually no night busses going from Mortlake to anywhere that will take me further on to Gatwick Airport within the time requirements (1,5 hours) .AND THE ONES THAT DO ARE CRAZY! 3 busses to get to London Victoria, and then the train for another 40 minutes! And 2 hours of journey in the middle of the bloody night, im sorry...is not gonna work!

When Im on stand by duty, that might start already at 3 in the morning, they may call me up from any point on and I need to be in the airport no longer than 1,5 hour later than the moment i'm called. As this happends often and it will take me minumum 2 hours to get there in the middle of the night between 2 - 6 in the morning, Im screwed and wont meet the requirements.

Im going to look at an Apartment in Crawley but have NO idea what to expect of the place. its far away from London, but the things you need to do for this job ay' ? :) whats crawley like?

Tell me, or maybe some of you have any suggestions to what I can do when based in Mortlake. It s only going to be a problem to get quick enough to Gatwick between 2 -6 but the thing is that most planes leave around 6´ish 7 ish meaning i have to be there 1,5 hours before departure!!!8O In my uniform, all dolled up with a big smile on my face!

can anyone help me out here?

Crawley is a bit of a dive to be honest, not much there apart from alot of the hq`s for big travel companies. I remember going shopping there in the mall when I was a teenager and Brighton was still in need of it`s own shopping centre. I think the outskirts can be a bit nicer, like all towns, but if you can find a cheaper way to get to Gatwick, I wouldn`t recommend you moving, especially as you haven`t even started the job yet, and you don`t know whether you`re gonna stick at it or not. On the brighter side, you will be close to brighton, so can benefit from the new carry on parties at the weekend.....

Crawley is a bit of dump IG, it's one of those towns where there's nothing much there cept for its close proximity to the airport, you'd go mad living there imo.

Have you tried anywhere in South London, that might have better connections to Gatwick.

Crawley?

Hi
There are loads of cabin crew for all different airlines living in brighton, As the driver of the National Express coach route between brighton and gatwick I meet plenty as they use the coach to get to work.........45 Mins and £4.60 Each way!

And nice freindly drivers too :)

does that coach also run during the night? its kinda important because thats where I have my main concern....its the morning hours that will be hard for me to get by. The daytime will be just fine but as you all know chartered flights leave damn early in the morning, so I need to be there sometimes 4´ish and on stand-by its hell!!! because i have to go to the airport during standby and i wont even know wether i will be able to fly that day or not 8O

hmmm I kinda figured Barbie. Now that Im used to fancy Richmond, its kinda hard to ajust to anything else. But Brighton might be an honest pos´- hear its lovely there, true?

Anyway, i need to know about that night coach! very important lol*

Brighton is lovely, if we didn't live in FLT we'd live in Brighton. The only downside to it is that the road connections aren't great so you might have to factor that into your travelling time, on a good run it's fine but get any queues/accidents and it can take 3x as long.

I've been to Crawley Town Football Club before.
The only ground i've ever been banned from (for throwing confetti, bizarrely).

Sorry, that doesn't help much !

Deffo the answer if the travelling's ok. And summer's coming so Brighton will be at its' best.

Not sure if you could afford it but what about getting a cheap second hand car. That way you could travel in comfort and in your own time.

I spent 6 very happy years in Brighton!!! In fact I'll be there this weekend - definately consider it! ;)

...and commuting to Gatwick wouldn't be that bad.

London is a different story because of rush hour and connecting tubes etc but you're fine for everything else.

I actually much prefer Brighton in winter (autumn and spring at a push), I think if I lived in Brighton permanently in the summer it would get too much being over-run with holiday makers/tourist/stag/hen dos etc.

Am I the only one who thinks... whilst Brighton is a great town and fab for spring/summer days running about on the beach, I could never live there! :? It's over-run by students, gets ridiculously busy during the summer months, to the extent that the town is permanently jammed with traffic, it's pretty depressing in winter and everything is shut, and whilst the shopping centre is ok, it's not London is it?!

Dont get me wrong I love a weekend in Brighton but I couldnt live there permanently, I'd get bored!

THE only thing wrong with Brighton is silly club closing hours.

Seriously.

And now they seem to have sorted that out.

Oh yeah, and driving anywhere is a nightmare. Makes central London look like a racetrack.

I absolutely loved living there...and that's coming from someone who's easily seduced by bright lights and wouldn't live anywhere except London.

The pace of life is so much slower but in a really nice way. The people that live there are lovely and it's great having all your mates on your doorstep. I miss all the mass drinking sessions, gatherings on the beach and most of all the huge house parties where everybody knows everyone.

Oh and the restaurants - loads of them!!!...and masses of vegetarian options too - not to mention more yoga centres than practically any other city in the world.

My only complaint - all the clubs are absolutely TERRIBLE!

Well, apart from the Concorde and the Ocean Rooms on a rare occasion.
...and as we all know, engineering works are always in full effect at the weekends so train trips to London are difficult.

Top tip: Brighton festival happens throughout May and my fave day of the year to visit (with the exception of Pride of course) is 13th May for the 'Streets of Brighton' bit in the North Laine - it's BRILLIANT!!!! 8)

ok so weve succesfully established that Brighton is indeed lovely. lol* OK so far so good....BUT do train connections go there all night to Gatwick???
ITS IMPORTANT .- I DONT HAVE DRIVERS LICENCE. id probably end up killing myself and others if I did!
So no car option for me. only trains!

so tell me peeps....whats my commute looking like from brighton?

Agree with all of that. It takes a while to get into "Brighton", but when you do, it's an ace place to live. If I didn't live where I do, I'd defo live go back to live there again.
